So it wasn't a 15" - those we're on the back, but still 17" like I said. End of discussion. You CAN fit some 17" wheels on the standard GT brakes. Fact.

The advantage is pretty much cheaper tires. I'm from CA, but my dad (and his family) are from Chicago, and when I worked for Tesla, I supported the Midwest owners from HQ. We ran a couple different brands on the Roadsters (I know one was a Pirelli) but I don't remember the models anymore. Some of the most fun I've had in a car was drifting the Roadster around in the snow in Detroit. The narrower tires help cut through the snow (which is why rally tires from narrow tires too).

Personally, I just want to see if a set of police car steelies will fit on the Mustang because I think it'll look B.A. The 2012 and up Taurus and Utility Interceptors also use 18" 5-spoke steel wheels. If I needed to run winter wheels and tires on my Mustang, that is where I'd be turning first - a) because it'll look awesome and b) keep the wheels OEM but a little different than everyone else. That is, if they fit. Which clearly, I don't know for sure.

Well, let's ask him. These are posted in the Kona Blue section. Either way, they fit the 12.8" rotors.

They should fit.

I just did a quick search for wheels for a 2013 Explorer on Tire Rack and apparently it uses the same 5x114 bolt pattern and offsets in the 40-45mm range, which is all the same numbers I've seen for late-model Mustangs ...

Sorry my bad ... I thought you meant those were 15" wheels ... Like I said earlier, 17" wheels that clear 2011+ GT brakes are rare

Exactly, the 5x114 and that offset is now used by everything Ford makes except F-Series/Expedition/E-Series/Focus/Fiesta and I'm assuming 2013 Escape, since it's based off the Focus.

I also did a quick google search of those Weld RT-S wheels I listed, and the 17s fit 2011+ GTs and GT500s with no modification. Obviously, no one is going to run drag wheels for winter, but my point was that SOME 17" wheels can fit the standard GT brakes, and when I know I'm right, I know I'm right. That being said, I'd look for a set of PI Crown Vic wheels and try the, on the GT, or go for a set of the 18x7.5" current PI wheels. I did all this research because I was looking to run a set on my DD Escape (2005) which is also 5x114 and similar offsets. I threw the wheels in my avatar on the Escape and it looked B.A. But the offset was a little too low. Those wheels are OEM 10th Anniversary Cobra wheels which would have plenty of clearance.

I did say that, but was mistaken, he runs 15s on the back. I agree, 17s that fit 2011+ GT brakes probably are rare. Just have to try them.

Except the Performance Package has the same 12.8" rotors, not 13.2...like I said, unless that changed for 2013.

Again, the 2005-2010 GT brakes were 12.4" and all non-Brembo 2011+ GT have 13.2" rotors.

http://media.ford.com/images/10031/2...g_GT_Specs.pdf

BTW, 2011 V6 have inherited the 05-10 GT's 12.4" rotors (instead of the 11.5" rotors the 05-10 V6 had).

Bottom line, if you stick to OEM wheels, 18" min to clear the 13.2" rotors, 17" min to clear the 12.4" rotors and 16" min to clear 11.5" rotors

I meant 12.4 every then I said 12.8, my bad. But yes, even the PP brakes are 12.4.

I highly recommend sticking with another OEM wheel from a Mustang, Ford Racing, or going through a company like Tire Rack to confirm your setup will fit your car.

Tire Rack confirmed with me that the 17" wheels they list will fit the V6 PP. Also re: smaller rim, you get more choices re: which tire to put on by virtue of the extra sidewall height needed to match the summer tire circumference. In the snow belts, this makes a big difference as you can also play with tire inflations when the going gets really tough.

Discount tire was also great in working with you to find exactly what you need and throwing in things to make the install perfect. I continplated just getting rims and going to a local tire place for the tires. However because they made it so easy I decided to have them do it all. My set comes on Thursday, so all I will need to do is put them on..

Discount tire's website also has a tire size calculator that is extremely helpful in comparing tire sizes.

I got those TPMS sensors in from Tousley Ford for my winter setup, and I was surprised to find that they also included the reset tool. $120 for 4 TPMS sensors and the reset tool, which everywhere else I looked would have run at least $200... thanks again Overboost!

This x 100. That's why I went with discount tire over tirerack. Cheaper prices, and IMO, better customer service overall, on the phone, website, and shipping (which is FREE mind you). I ordered Tori's new shoes Monday pm, and was at my door step Thursday noon. Insane.

Personally, I won't be doing any winter driving until next year, but I've started looking at winter wheels and tires and getting an idea of what it's going to cost me.

Here's what I've found:

18" GT500 wheel (either the 07-09 style or the '10 verts)

Wheel size - 18x9.5"
Recommended OEM tire size: 255/45/18

This is an exact match size for size with the 255/40/19s that the BBP comes with.

Keep in mind, you'll also need TPMS sensors (4), and the calibration tool to sync the sensors to the car. I believe this goes for $100 or so.

If anyone wants to add info regarding the other wheel types and sizes, I can add it to the first post.
Haha, I just purchased a set of the GT500 vert wheels to move to next spring.

I will be using my fan blades, which I just purchased winter tires for, as my winter wheel
