Strano Adjustable Front Sway bar vs Steeda
Strano Adjustable Front Sway bar vs Steeda
Ok, looking for a good sway bar for my autocross setup. I'm running an 18x10 wheel square setup with 285 R-s3's this year. So I take it that a stiffer front sway bar will help.
So we have the Steeda...

and Sam Strano's...

I just got off the phone with Steeda and verified that at the most aggressive setting their bar is 10% stiffer than the stock GT bar. They claim at the softest setting it is 3% stiffer
On Sam's site, he notes the ratings for his bar, which shows a 47% increase at the stiffest setting (compared to stock 2011+ GT), 25% increase for the middle setting, and an 8% increase at the softest setting.
How can Steeda's bar have such a low range of increase of stiffness compared to Sam's when they are both 1 3/8", and 3 position adjustable?
How about Whiteline's product?

Their bar is made of spring steel, and they have a maintenance free bushing, and that kit comes with nice end links.
Any recommendations?

We have a different front bar that is stiffer than our standard bar, part number 555-1067 that will fit the 2012 (website needs to be revised, as it lists up to 2010) that is 27% stiffer than stock at its stiffest setting.

Be careful putting too much front bar without upgrading the rear bar or you'll end up with a bunch of understeer.

Unless you know they are both tested the same way I wouldn't compare one bar to the other via some unknown testing system. Rather check out what the bars include and how they are made. Urethane bushings for the roll bar mounting increases the effective stiffness of the bar as does the Z brace for the radiator support.
Sam's bars are tried and true, he's done a good job with his sways. I sell whiteline, enjoy whiteline and use them. Both will offer good results. Let us know if we can help you with anything Whiteline. Sam I'm sure could talk your ear off with his extensive knowledge, not only is he knowledgeable of parts but he has the experience to back it up as well.
Either way, any vendor here is happy to answer any questions you may have.

I went with the Whiteline unit from Hypermotive... I like that it includes the nice set of endlinks. I would have went with Strano but I've attempted to contact him through e-mail and private message, and haven't heard a response from my first email in... 3 weeks?
I'll post pics and my review when i install it.

^This...too stiff in front and you'll plow instead of push. I track on the MIDDLE setting and I think it's perfect (mine is Eibach Pro, front & rear). Speak with the companies you are considering, and find out what they have to say, especially about their bar's three settings, pros & cons.

I've always heard this too, that really stiff front compared to rear will give you understeer. It's interesting that most companies bars are stiffer front and rear but Strano has found a stiffer front and softer rear to work better for him. Been looking at adjustable sways lately and trying to figure out what to go with.
I've been waiting on him to get back from vacation for couple weeks.
Thanks, Mike
I am curious as well, hopefully Sam will let us know, I have tried to call him a couple of times but have not reached him yet.
I have the brembo package and wonder if Sam's bars are better and why?
I really like the hotchkiss stuff as well, whiteline does not like convertibles so they are out for me.
It's all a mystery to me!!!!!

well i installed adjustable camber bolts and the front swaybar. but i put the swaybar on backwards so that it hit the crank pulley when installed. so i had to take it back out, flip it, and put it back in. That whiteline sway bar is a beast (heavy).
i definitely did not like having to dismantle the oem sway bar bushing brackets and grind the edges down flat. it took like 30 minutes just to grind the edges down. It would have taken 2 minutes to set up on a mill and machine the edges off, but i dont have a mill at home and didnt want to drive 45 minutes to work and back. they could at least give you 2 new plates so you wouldnt have to modify the old ones.
I'm glad its over with! My next house will have a lift in the garage. and a vertical mill. Thats for sure

You used the Whiteline bar? I wasn't aware there was any modification necessary.
