Steeda control arms and 55d rear springs

I installed some new parts last week on my '11 brembo GT and thought I'd post my impressions.

Steeda 555-4109 upper control arm and bracket,
Steeda 555-4405 Billet Rear Trailing Arms, and
55D rear springs from brembo50.com

This pick has the 1.5 year old oem spring on the left.

The install was pretty straight forward fallowing the included instructions. Taking me about 5hrs with the car on jack stands in the back and the front on ramps. I had a hard time assembling the upper control arm as it was a pretty tight fit to get the arm with aluminum spacers and washers in the bracket. I adjusted the length of the Steeda upper so that the distance from the mounting holes to the c/l of the bolt attaching it to the rear end matched the factory arm and bracket. The Steeda instructions tell you to drop the gas tank and bend the lip to clear the new bracket but on my car the tank is plastic and doesn't come anywhere near the bracket so that step was thankfully not needed. Probably the hardest part of the install was torquing the bolts to the proper specs as there isn't a lot of clearance to swing a torque wrench with the car on jack stands.

I can't notice any difference in ride quality after the install which is what I was hoping but the rear end does feel more solid. It rained here last week and that's normally where I experience a lot of wheel hop as its not always possible to avoid wheel spin on the slick roads. Needless to say that problem is solved now. There is a bit more noise coming from the drivetrain now but not much. The occasional clunk when shifting gears and a slight rear end whine at highway speeds although you really have to listen for it. A trade off I am willing to accept for the much more planted rear end and elimination of wheel hop.

The 55D springs are a subtle change but just what I was looking for for my car. Evening out the wheel gap without affecting ride quality

Sorry I don't have a good before pick. But here are a couple I took today with my cell phone.

Looks good! love black. Until I have to take car of it that is I think mine has settled a little bit more since I took the pictures. But I didn't bother to measure so oh well.

Glad to hear your install and wheel hop has been taken care.

Great write up and we appreciate the feedback.
