Second Opinions Welcomed (shopping list included)

Last week I called up one of the site sponsors and asked what they recommended for me. My car is a 95% DD that will see only occasional track time. I currently have a 2013 GT with the TP suspension and I really dont want something much harder than that set up.

This is what they came up with.
  • Upper Strut Mounts
  • Tokico D-Spec Shock/Struts
  • Steeda Ultralight Springs
  • Panhard bar and brace
  • Bump Steer Kit
Looking for second opinions on this set up or if others have had better results running different components. Also if some of the above is not 'necassarily' needed please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!

I don't hear much about subframe connectors on the new bodies. Might be an option. Don't know anything about tokico. Hopefully somebody has input on those.

Looking forward to hear back from your setup, because that's exactly what I had in mind for mine...

I would check and see how much if any the springs drop your car, I believe if the springs drop the car close to an inch like the FRPP P springs then you should consider either LCA relo bracket and LCA's or I think you can also fix the pinion angle with an adjustable UCA.

What kind of track would you be racing on?

Mainly road course but there will probably be some drag racing here and there.

Im really mostly concerned with a nice ride height (minimum wheel gap) and a car that I can drive every day that doesnt ride like its on railroad tracks

Im even open to coilovers if that is a better option as I feel that the price difference will probably be fairly minimal.

Ive done plenty of searching and research but there is so many different components and set ups that I want to make sure Im buying the right set up for my needs.

Ultra lights are to low if you ask me for track use and even DD. Steeda Sport springs is what I did along with Koni yellows. If your not planning on tracking alot I would dump the D spec and go for Koni STRT non adjustable. They are similar to what the yellows are on the softest setting.

The best option is definitely coilovers, but in my opinion they are a little overkill for your purposes.

A set of our Ultralites and Tokico D-specs is a great combination. I would also highly recommend the heavy-duty upper strut mounts and our adjustable panhard bar. If you want to shoot me a PM with your budget I'd be glad to recommend a setup that fits within your budget.

The Ultralites are only approximately .25" lower than the Sports and have a better ride quality and softer spring rate in the front than the Sports, which is better for a daily driver. I would not recommend the STR.Ts, I've personally heard of two customers having issues with theirs. One leaked out all of its oil and both made bad squeaking noises, needing repair/replacement. The D-Specs are a much better choice when compared to the STR.Ts.
