Front End Popping noises...
Front End Popping noises...
I installed a set of Tokico struts and shocks on stock springs, along with new Ford GT500 Strut Mounts about 2-months ago.
About 1-month after installing the Tokico struts and GT500 Strut Mounts, I started getting some popping sounds coming from the front-end. It is hard to tell where the noise comes from since it only happens when the car is in motion. The popping noise comes from the left and right sides, usually a different times, and usually only when turning and/or turning while entering/exiting the driveway, or going over a bump.
Since this didn't start popping immediately or soon after the new strut installation, I don't know if it is related to the struts, or just coincidence, so I can only think it has to do with a faulty part, but which one:
GT500 Strut Mounts
Tokico Struts
Wheel Bearings
Control Arm Bushings
Thoughts or Suggestions please.

if it happens in both sides my guess is it's directly related to your replacements...I would have guessed a ball joint but not at the same time on both sides...just a hunch though...
Something could have come loose, this is common on 2005+ Mustangs. Check your swaybar nuts, if they came loose use some red Loc-Tight or get new ones. Since you put in new bushings you may need to reapply grease, they can make a clanking noise and need regreased after settling...which usually is around a month later.
If that don't work let us know.

Finally took it to the dealer for service this morning since the popping noises started occurring more frequently.
After diagnosis, they are ordering new left/right front control arm assembly's for my car. The service adviser stated there is a TSB for this issue and the resolution is to replace the control arm assembly.
So if anyone is experiencing any popping or clunking noises from the front end, take it to the dealer for diagnosis.
I was fortunate enough to have only swapped my struts, I reused the stock springs on my swap, with 2010 model Ford strut mounts, so there was little to question.

I’m happy to hear your dealer took care of this for you. If you ever need me, don’t hesitate to PM me.
If anyone is having any concerns with their vehicle, please bring it in to your Ford dealer for diagnosis. Then PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, and contact info so I can escalate this.

I had the same issue happen to me when I changed the springs. I took it to the dealership and they told me it was the struts. I replaced the struts and the noise happened again. I did some research and found out that it was the camber plates making the popping noise. Once I replaced the camber plates the noise went away and never came back.
