Brembo brake pad stainless shims

Are these needed when changing over to different pads like Stoptech pads? These are metal shims that sit between the pad and caliper pistons. Also, what is everyone using to lube the pads with? The Brembo pads had some gold colored grease.

I was wondering the same thing. I thought something was wrong when I saw the gold grease. I thought I cooked more than the pads.

Shims are there to reduce pad noise for most drivers and reduce heat transfer to the calipers for those who track their cars. Not necessary in most cases to transfer the shims to new pads, but if you track the car you may want to consider thicker shims such as the Ti ones 0.030" or more to help keep heat out of the calipers.

I have always used the black CRC caliper grease.

I used the red grease that was supplied with the HP + pads I got. It was a pain to get the pads back in with new rotors and pads. How much thicker are the shims from stock? The difference is very noticeable with the new stuff on there. The Super Blue fluid helped too. I finally have all my pedal feel back.
