Use the Gt500 Strut mounts or not?

Hey all,

Trying to decide which setup to go with.

Thinking about getting the eibach pro damper kit to go with the pro kit springs for optimized damping.

Ordered a set of GT500 mounts thinking I'd get something else though. (couldn't pass up the CJponyparts sale)

So let me ask:

1. If you had the choice, would you order 05-10 eibach pro dampers just to utilize the GT500 mounts for the benefits.

or

2. Would you sell/return the mounts, order MY11 specific eibach pro dampers and use the stock mounts.

Also - is it really true stock mounts are 'one-time use'. My car only has 7k miles, heard with early mileage cars it's ok to reuse.

Thanks in advance!

From what I've read . . . I'd run Koni's.

I wouldn't use the stock mounts if I am taking the suspension apart for any reason. I used the GT500 for a time but if you're serious the adjustable units like the Maximum Motorsports ones are the way to go.

Thanks for clarification. I am not serious. so I was shooting for non-adjustables and from what I hear Pro-kit springs seem to spec fine as it is. Just looking for the look and slight performance gains but looking to do it as safely as possible and money is an object.

Just wondering if using the mounts are overkill or if they are 'required' as mounts are considered one-time use?

There is some debate as to whether the GT500 and the GT strut mounts are the same or that the GT500 are stiff and last longer and control the upper strut position better because they are stiffer. I come down on the side that they are different and stiffer.

There have been numerous posts about "popping" when going over bumps or driveway curbs if you reuse the stock strut mounts.

I heard that too. Upon further research I uncovered a quote from the Ford service manual specifying the mounts were one time use. Something about the bottom part that loosens when taking the assembly apart.

Just gonna use the GT500 mounts. They're on their way anyway. Got a good deal on em and would rather be safe than sorry.
