Dear Fellow Stangers,

Where would be the best place to get Tires? Tire Rack?
My dilemma is whether to get them done at 'performance shop' or goto tire joints such as America's tire, or TireRack (but not a fan of pepboys/firestone).

Looking at the MPSS's in possibly staggered set up on my stock brembo wheels (255-35-19/ 275-30-19 or 255-40-19/ 275-35-19). Any known issues (tpms, speedometer...etc) if front-back sizes are different??

 

I usually buy from Americas Tire Company. They do free rotations and balance after purchase. Oh, they also do free flat repair. They will also negotiate on price. Bring the add or website from another dealer and they will match pretty close. Places like tire rack do require shipping so they will factor that into the price.

 

I have 2 places that I frequent. Discount Tire, and they price match Tire rack or other, and free rotation and balance. Dont recall their flat repair policy.

There is a local Mom and Pop shop that I will go to if I cant find what I want at Discount tire.

 

Discount tire guy here also. They have gone above and beyond what other tire places have done for me over the years. Heck my teenage son took our gt in one time for two rear tires. They actually pro rated the almost bald tires that were on the car. Really? Not to mention other times they have done stuff like that when they didn't have to. They do free tire repairs no matter where you buy your tires from. Get your best price and then call them. Also check discounttiredirect.com if their price is better than discount tire store the store will match it also.

 

In some states, Americas Tire company goes by discount tire. I'm not sure if they are all the same. Tire.com is the website they use.

The America's tire seems to have the best pricing. I like the fact they include the free Prorated Road Hazard. Most of the performance shops & Ford Dealerships don't do Road Hazard, this was one of my concerns. I'll miss out the Lifetime Rotations, the Staggered setup.

One question though, what's a 'Certificates for Repair, Refund or Replacement' (America's Tire)?

 

I've priced out Tire Rack and several other discount tire stores over the years. But our local CJ's tire store is who I always end up with. They offer free balance, rotations and road hazard with their tires. When you add up all the cost they always end up being cheaper. Unless of course you have the equipment or access to it to mount, balance and install them yourself. :-)

 

Discount tire replacement certificates are just that. If they can't repair the tire they will replace it. You usually have to buy a replacement certificate for the replacement tire as well. The certificate cost is dependent on the cost of the tire.

 

For replacement the tire has to be less than 3 years old and have more than 3/32 thread left.

 

I used Discount Tire Direct for my last couple tire purchase. They offer a card in which you can pay off your tires as well (0% financing for 6 months or 9 months). One time I purchased truck tires from them but after doing some more research on the tire, I decided I didn't want them. Called them up and they put a hold on UPS delivery. They then let me buy the tires I actually wanted. All this was at no charge to me. They have great customer service!!

 

Another vote for Discount tire here too. They special ordered a set of Potenza S04s for me for no additional charge, and mounted them on wheel I brought in.

 

I just know I've bought my first and last set of tires from an online store. I thought I was saving a bunch of money, but unless you can mount balance and service your own tires, your much better off finding a good brick and mortar store. JMHO.

 

I used Tread depot for my F150, saved almost $100 a tire over what I could get them local. For the Mustang I saved $70 a tire, $23 of that was just in local sales tax and then the Federal excise tax and Discount tires mount and balance was the rest.
My local ford store mounts and balances for $15.99 and I do my own rotations when I clean the wheels on the inside.
I can also get the Discount tire tire warranty from them even if the tires were not purchased there and they still fix any flat for free.
I save from $200 to $400 on tires getting them online, I don't have a brick and Mortar that can touch that around here.

 

Best deal i found on my invos was through ebay. I visited all tire sites and a seller on eBay had them $25 cheaper and free shipping.
