All wearher tires in SoCal?

I'm going to buy new tires in a couple months. I have the brembo wheels and I have decided to go with 275 40 19 size tires. I am looking at performance all season tires.

This is my only car. I brought up to the local mountains during winter and it felt slippery and lacked stability. I assume this was because of my factory Pirelli tires. I won't be driving my car in "real" winter conditions.

How badly will a change to an all season z rated tire affect my handling? Is there a summer tire that gives acceptable handling in cold weather? Am I just imagining all if this? If you were a fish, what kind would you be?

In that size I'd recommend the Continental DWS's http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...%2FPerformance

I just ordered a set in a different size for my new 18" rims (275/40/18) and I went with Discount Tire Direct since they offer a $100 rebate AND a $100 Adidas card so I'll get some new shoes too, lol

The summer tires aren't supposed to be driven in temps below 40 degrees, they get hard and supposedly can even crack

That's a good choice Gabe (Continental DWS). I had the DWS' on my '04 GT and I really liked them. I will probably get the DW to wrap the forgestar wheels I'm gonna get. You shouldn't run summer tires year round unless you live in area that never gets below 50.

That is my demon. I like the grip of the summer tires but I like skiing. In Southern California, it doesn't get cold very often. The mountains are an exception.

Has anyone tried the Bridgestone potenza pole position all season tires on their mustang? I had them on my ex wives Altima and my A4 and loved them.

Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric a/s is what i,m running and couldnt be happier.Incredible in the rain and cold and fantastic in the warm and dry.I have NEVER driven in the wet with a rear driver with this much power like i do,absolutely the best rain tire i have ever driven.my friend has Conti DW,s on his cobra and after driving my car in a down pour, then in a light rain he swears as soon as his conti,s are done he is getting a set of these!!Super quiet also!

I've run Michelin's Pilot Sport A/S with very good results including the white stuff.

Rich I've seen the Pole positions in Germany quite a bit when I was there in 2011. I've always been a fan of Bridgestone and Michelin, always quiet and seem to do well in the rain.

I used to be a huge Michelin fan. I had the pilot super sports on a Mazda 3. The sidewall blew out on the freeway and I hit a big rig and then the center divider. The chp investigation stated it was a tire failure. I contacted Michelin and they gave me the run around. I haven't bought Michelin since. They do usually make an excellent tire.

I think I'm getting the Bridgestones. You have been right about everything else I should or shouldn't put on my car.

I think your vote pushed me over the edge. I've read your other posts in the past and thought your opinions were well thought out. I think the Bridgestones are the winner.

Let me know how they ride and handle in the rain. I might consider getting those instead of the continentals

I won't be buying till September. I'm a teacher and summer is a lean time for me. I know a lot of folks have had good luck with conti buy I always seem to have a lot of road noise from their tires. Granted, that was on luxury tires, not performance tires.

I'll put a review up after I get them.

Lol. Thanks. I know my thread has been quiet for a while but I had to put off tires till now. I was pretty set on all season tires but one of my car friends is pushing me to stay with summer tires. Those of you that switched to all seasons, was there a noticeable loss in traction?

I actually think I have more but I switched to 275/40/19's in the Pilot Sport A/S +. I live in south eastern Germany near a couple hours from Austria and there isn't a straight road in sight. I hit the autobahn all the time and hit triple digit speeds and large curves at those speeds and haven't had one issue. I have driven in 6 inches of snow while it was snowing and didn't have much of an issue other than feathering the throttle a lot and knowing how to drive. I debated putting the summer PZero's back on but with the amount of grip I have and the versatility with the weather I probably won't and will end up selling them to help me afford some suspension mods.

Your post helped me a lot. I ended up purchasing the pilot as3 as you recommended. I only bought a set for the rear. I'll change the fronts in a couple of months. They are excellent so far. Thank you for your help.
