275 Tire

How can I run a 275 width tire all around? I don't want a staggered setup. I want to be able to rotate the tires.

On my 2001 Firebird, I have 17x9.5 Z06-style wheels with 275/40/17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 (Summer) tires.

I'd like run a similar width on my Mustang.

Currently on my 2013 Mustang I have Ford Racing 18x8 wheels with the stock 235/50/18 Pirelli PZero Nero A/S tires on them. I'd like to run a 275/40/19 Michelin Pilot Super Sport (Summer) tire, but what offset would I need? Are there any good black 19x9.5 wheels that would fit (and not cost $500 each like the Ford Racing SVT wheels)?

I did some searching on here and Google but didn't find an answer to this. I've seen staggered setups with 255 front and 275 or larger rear, but nothing with a square 275 setup.

Also, I realize that 275/40/19 are 0.4" taller than the stock 235/50/18 so I'll have to recalibrate the speedometer.

If this has been answered, sorry for the repeat. Just point me to that thread.

I have 275/35/20 Nitto Invos on 20x9.5 Bravado Tributes all around. Offset is 35mm. Tributes also come in 19x9.5 with an offset of 34 according to treaddepot.com.

They will work on 19x9 Black Track Pack wheels, the offset on those is 42mm.

What's the best offset to prevent rubbing on the front at full lock? I've see offsets from 35 - 44. Most wheels in the 9.5" width range appear to be 38-40 offset.

I knew the Track Pack wheels are 19x9, but I'm not that big a fan of them. I could probably get a take-off set for cheap though.

Looking up those Bravado Tribute wheels led me to Discount Tire's site and I found a couple other options there too: TSW Max & Drag DR-37. Both have 40 offset. I'm not that familiar with either brand. I've heard of both, but are they good quality? I'm not looking for expensive, just not something soft or brittle. Depending on either wheel, looks like around $2047 - $2328 delivered for wheels and tires from Discount Tire (although Tire Rack has the tires for $82 cheaper delivered).

A related question: my TP car has 255's all around, and tramlining is minimal. How much more work is it going to be to keep the car in a straight line with 275's on the front?

I'm running 275/40's on my Brembo car and have no issues with tramlining.

I have less Tramlining with the 275/40 than I did with the 255/40

I have noticed some tramlining on my Firebird, but its is a stiffer car. I'm also running 4.5+ Caster, -1 Camber, 0 Toe on it. Not particularly aggressive, but more than stock.

I like the look of the TSW Valencia Matte Black wheel, but AM lists the 19x9.5 as rear only. I wonder why. It says 40 offset. Wouldn't that fit the font?

It's possible that it'll fit the front but not on Brembo cars so they're covering their bases. Can't hurt to make a quick call and find out!

SVT Drifts and 275/40 on all four corners. Guys run the 18 with 285's without issue. I run 275/40 19's on my track pack without any issues.

Ditto, I have SVE drifts in 19x9.5 with 275/40-19s all around on my 14 TP. LOVE the extra grip. The sidewall is a bit less stiff which i notice in hard cornering, but that's a small price to pay for the extra traction in steady state corners and straights. No clearance/rubbing issues at all, and it still tracks straight.

Thanks. Looks like Late Model Restoration has the SVE Drift 19x9.5 with 35mm offset for $170.

My suggestion

FYI AM list these 19x10 +42's as rear only but they fit on the front with no clearance issues. The only problem is the center cap will not fit over the hub.
Forgestar sells different caps on their site that will work.
You can also run up to a 295 tire on these wheels.

This is what I'm switching to when I upgrade for the summer months.

Thanks, but I have a few questions.

I don't get why the center cap won't fit over the hub? Does the hub protrude that much? Is the wheel that thin or the cap that thick? I haven't had to take off the wheels myself yet on this car, so forgive the newbie questions. I've worked on various other cars and haven't seen such a scenario before.

Either way, those are priced a little over the range I'm considering.

It has to do with the offset of the wheel. This is a factor because sometimes, depending on the style of wheels, the outside of the wheels to the part that touches the hub distance isn't enough to clear the cap for the hub and have the center cap on there.

Wheel sounds thin. I guess I'd have to see it.

Yup, that's where I got mine. But mine were $189 at the time. Looks like they are having a 4th of July sale, which sounds like an awesome deal. You can run 275/40-19 or 285/35-19 with these. I really like the wheels, and they are 5 lbs lighter than the Brembo wheels.
