Who all has tuned their Boss?

I want to get a mail order tune and CAI for my Boss, but with the #8 issues the GT guys are having I'm worried. Has anyone had the same problem with their Boss, since its forged?

If you have a mail order tune, chime in please and tell me what you have and your thoughts on it.

I only have a month left with the car before it goes in storage for a year while I'm in Korea. So if a dyno tune is the only way to go, it'll have to wait till Feb 2013.

I'd wait until your back. By then there will be plenty of well tested options. No need to rush anything.

I'd wait until you get back and get a dyno tune. The #8 failure was due to too much timing advance and messing with the knock sensors. I believe tuners have learned their lesson. I haven't heard of a #8 failure for awhile.

With both Santa and Mom advising you to forsake instant gratification for a more stable and well developed tune upon your return from Korea, well you'd be foolish not to heed their advise.

There is a SCT authorized shop here in Stuttgart, plan on taking the wife's 08 to get a dyno tune while I am here and may think out the Boss. Of course I have to convince her I need some upgrades first!

I would not get a generic tune .Every motor is different. It can do more harm than good.
If you want a tune get your car tuned for its optimum performance.Have it done on a dyno.

Running a JLT cold air, AR Headers and Magnaflow cat back. I had Jon Lund make me a couple of custom tunes. They are agressive but safe. Redline was also bumped to 8100rpms.

Do you have a dyno chart from before and after the changes?

i had my first tune done with a JLT CAI, and nothing else, sounds like what your looking for, and i hammered it for about 5k miles on the tune already ....never missed a beat, and got 26 MPG on the highway ( when i behaved)

mike dez racing in seekonk MASS did the tune, http://dezracing.net/
i use him for all my tuning, and he built the engine in my 94

I'd also like to see a dyno chart with the JLT and tune, etc. I've also been looking at the BBK offerings as well.

Edit: here's a link, evidently they'll be producing a 90mm throttle body too: http://www.bbkperformance.com/news_item.php?nak=72

Say Resolution 78, I'll like to see a picture of the billet grill in your Boss 302, and when you get them installed your 1/4 window louvers too,...
Cheers,

american muscle warrants their tunes for #8 failure if you have never been tuned before.

TJ, can you publish that same comparison but show us the A/F comparison? If you send me the .drf files, I'd be happy to do it.

Corey, I'd wait til after Korea to worry about tuning. Not only will that mean more time for knocking out a BOSS specific tune, but also the possibility someone cracks/edits the TracKey tune to accept mods. That's what I'm hoping for anyway.
