Warranty Help/Advice

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum, I'm a member at boss302forum. Anyway I got a 2013 boss 302, my first new car, and I am having an issue and I don't know what to do. I took my car in because part of the stripe came off and another part is peeling. I know this isn't uncommon so I assumed it would be no trouble. I took it to the dealership and they sent pictures to ford Canada and ford said I pressure washed it and they won't cover it. Ive hand washed this car and part of the stripe started to peel before the car had even been washed by me for the first time, that was back in may when there were 1000 Km's on the car. I'm not really sure what to do now. I'll post pictures when I'm home. Does anyone know what I should do or has this happened to anyone else? I'm pretty upset

thanks

PM Deysha on this forum. She's a Ford rep and has been very helpful to a lot of people in the past. Don't know if she is US only, but she can probably point you in the right direction if she can't help directly.

Sorry to hear that jabroney....Hopefully Ford will make your baby right. Those OEM stripes cost alot of cash.

Thanks boss man for the support. it is 2 of the smaller pieces so maybe I don't have to buy the whole stripe, im still upset that they voided my warranty, my family does alot of business with ford. My dad and I bought a gt500 and boss new off the lot with cash last summer and they won't fix a square foot of 3m, I don't get Ford Canada at all.

Plenty of people pressure wash their cars at the car wash and have no problems like your having. How in the heck does anyone know how you wash your car. That is one lame excuse

It is very lame, Glenn. Its like ford is trying to force me into buying a SRT hellcat instead of a next Gen stang.

That's a buncha bull, hope you get it sorted out.

It's actually specified in the Boss supplement manual, pg 20:

"WASHING YOUR VEHICLE
Do not drive your vehicle through an automated, commercial car
wash due to the vehicle’s low ground clearance, tire width and
track width. Wash your vehicle by hand, or by using a touchless
commercial wash with no mechanical tracks on the floor. Do not
use a commercial or high pressure wand on the striped surfaces
or stripe edges."

Yea for sure, more of the stripe is starting to come off in the same vicinity (5 inches) from the original spot. I'll keep you guys posted on what happens.

Looks like poor paint / stripe
preparation on Fords part.
One thing I've notice is that it seems like the 2013 have more stripe problems than the 2012. Could it be because the stripes are reflective and Ford had the material made special just for Ford. Numbers dont lie.

I know the 2013 stripe has had way more issues than the 12. I think I found the stripe on ford's parts website and it'll be maybe $400 for the 2 sections I need, ill have someone else other than ford put it on.

I had different parts of my stripes removed and torn using my local touch less car wash. I went to my dealer and they replaced them for me and just reminded me to not use car washes in the future. I also think that the paint surface may not have cured completely or there was some kind of faulty adhesive on the stripes! Good luck!!! :-)

Your dealer sounds like they know how to take care of their customers!

I've had zero warranty issues with them and have purchased many vehicles from them new and used. Good luck!

Not sure if this info will be any help, but delivery of the first of the '13 302's were delayed a couple of weeks due to stripe issues. Yours get missed ? Idk, just more food for thought.

Interesting. I hadn't heard that before. My car is #449. I don't have any problems with peeling but my stripes have had appearance flaws from day one. Unfortunately in my excitement in getting the car I didn't notice until I got home, 250 miles from where I bought it. The local dealers aren't excited about replacing them so I just live with it. Peeling is a different story.

Warranty service at Ford of Canada is just about the worst one can imagine. You can't really compare it to the service you might get at Ford US. Getting a Ford fixed here is more like trying to cancel Comcast.

A Canadian friend with a Focus would agree...he drives a Mazda now.

He even had one dealer call the cops on him (he didn't do anything wrong).
