which famous #1? (and my car isn't famous lol);; I caught my son telling a friend while they were playing games that the car was the first ever and when he was old like me (i'm 37, he's 9) he would sell it for a "billion dollars"
i see a few of you guys at other forums i visit so some of you may know. im a writer by trade, i generally stick to gadgets and electronics for websites and such online. i do a lot of car tech and reviews though. anyway, the site i do cars fro is www.i4u.com and i put up the story of how i got there car in my own words there a few days ago. An editor form Jalopnik emailed me a bit ago to see if they could syndicate the story. I really like that site and thought it was cool, he said it should be up soon. and for the record, i dont proof posts on forums so dont be judging me based on grammer and spelling here!

very cool story Shane
you really think that? this is the first and only #1 2012 boss 302 that any consumer can possibly have. the lowest number LS car for the public was #021. the blue one doest count it was no in the same production range, the car show cars are numbered differently. As far as production cars this is as good as it gets LS or not. the first boss 302 in 30 years and number 1 has no value or at least not as much as the 21 LS car galpin has for 108K? mecum did offer me a spot to consign the car in one of their auctions but said they didn't know what it would bring.

I think you will be disappointed if you think Galpin will sell an LS for anywhere near $108k to any buyer with reasonable knowledge of the car.
Don't worry about your car getting damaged. There are many significant cars that have been totally rebuilt around a chassis tag, and no one seems to care. If anything, I'd research on how to protect the engine plate, even if it means doing nothing with it, or maybe even replacing the entire upper piece with the engine plate on it, storing the original and bringing it out to car shows. The additional value of your car appears to be a small piece of metal - everything else can be replaced. If you become overly concerned about scratches, it will probably take away some of the fun of ownership.
Speaking of damage, have you made an arrangement with your insurance company to reimburse you more for your car than for just a 'regular' Boss in case of a total loss? Call those specialty insurance carriers to get an idea from them of the additional value of having standard Boss retail number 0001.
I'd hate to see you hurt if you set your expectations way too high. (I've seen it happen to others) Just like a dealer with ADMs on a car they feel deserves it, you have set a price for your car and it's up to a buyer to decide if it's worth it the premium. You set the price, and the buyer determines the market.
Personally I'd just enjoy driving, owning and talking about the car, and what happens, happens. If the value goes up, great. If not, then you had a lot of fun driving it.
Enjoy it.
well, teh guy that tried to buy my car has attempted to find LS 001 as well. He said the first 20 had gone to execs and 21 at galpin is the lowest that a consumer can buy. I dont know if that is 100% correct though, has anyone seen or heard of a LS lower than 21 in the hands of anyone outside of ford?
I'm saying if you want to get an idea where your car's future value will be relative to other 2012 standard Boss 302s, go look at the difference in value of the first 2007 GT500 vs other 2007 GT500s and the first 2003 Mach1 vs other 2003 Mach1s. Same applies to LS001, and your car's value will fall south of LS001. fwiw, I happen to know the three folks who have LS001, LS002 and LS019.

i dont care what the future value is honestly. its worth a lot to me now and the only way i woudl part with it is at teh terms i have stated before.
You guys are crazy, when a dealer wants 20-50k over MSRP you guys rip them up one side and down the other, when one of us want to do it it's all good. It's all about the MONEY. Besides it's kinda cool that the dealer had no idea what he had, and they are the experts. I would think anytime a new car comes out each dealer would put at least one person on lead to get to know all about the car. That car if advertised properly could have easily went for 25-50k over MSRP.

You previously asked what the value is of number one would be - I'm giving you several ideas on how to obtain that info from experts (not internet keyboard warriors), now and for the future.
