Turned down offers on #0001 and pulled restrictors
Well its ben an eventful few days. i have had two offers on the car, one was a lot more than i paid but not enough to replace the Boss so i passed. The guy was cool though and has one of the first 50 LS cars. We stood around and talked cars for an hour or so after.
As soon as he left i out the car up on my ramps and pulled the restrictor plates. OMG youtube vids simply don't do this thing Justice with the plates out. I LOVE the way it sounds, deep and mean with a bit of burble and at WOT it gives me wood. i wont be changing the exhaust for sure, no drone either.
For any of you though thought some of the video sounded like a truck, i know i did, that popping goes away once the car is warm.

That is a fact, next you need to stand by the side of the road and hear it go by. It is a lot louder then you think or can even imagine from inside.
My pants get a little tighter too when I hear the exhaust without the plates! Cold startup is amazing!!!I need to do this.
Had a friend with a LS on order come over when we tried different discs. I had no idea how loud it really was when he did a pass, not saying it was all bad but I like hearing the motor some also and the car speaks for itself so it does not need to be over loud.
I think you guys are looking at this wrong. If someone is having financial hardship then that is different but ... There is a reason why this car is worth more and that is not just about dollars. What is it worth just to have No.1 - and totally by chance at that. If it were me it would be hard to put a value on that and I would keep it.
I could not think of a better place for this car, it went to someone who know and appreciates the Boss for what it is. Someone that wanted a Boss, any Boss not just because of the number on the intake, someone that will use and enjoy it rather then it being sold to some show off with 300 cars and a special seat at Barrett Jackson.
Even if he puts miles on it the fact that it is number one will help it keep it's value. There is no reason why it should be in a museum or private collection where most people will never see it. How great is it that he can take it to the local cruise night where everyone can enjoy it.
The car is right where it should be, in fact the only better place would be my garage
(and yes I am jealous)

which famous #1? (and my car isn't famous lol);; I caught my son telling a friend while they were playing games that the car was the first ever and when he was old like me (i'm 37, he's 9) he would sell it for a "billion dollars"
i see a few of you guys at other forums i visit so some of you may know. im a writer by trade, i generally stick to gadgets and electronics for websites and such online. i do a lot of car tech and reviews though. anyway, the site i do cars fro is www.i4u.com and i put up the story of how i got there car in my own words there a few days ago. An editor form Jalopnik emailed me a bit ago to see if they could syndicate the story. I really like that site and thought it was cool, he said it should be up soon. and for the record, i dont proof posts on forums so dont be judging me based on grammer and spelling here!

iirc, wasn't it later discovered that it wasn't the first Mustang down the line - it was only the Mustang with the lowest VIN? Someone else claimed to have the very first retail Mustang to have come off the line, and it had a higher VIN.
Correct. The claim is that 100001 was a pre-production model, and that 100212 was actually the first car down the line the day production started.
