Track wheels- 18" or 19"
For those of you who will have a dedicated set of track wheels, will you be running 18" or 19"?
What tires (brand/size/type) will you put on the wheels?

If you're talking real track wheels with real rubber on 'em then there's no question to ask..................
You get the smallest rim that will fit over the brake caliper, which is an 18".
The Boss 302R BBS wheel or an old Fikse FR500C rim or anything else that will hold a Hoosier R6 or BFG R1 or if you're budget conscious like me, a set of scuffed Grand Am Cup tires; Continental 275/35/18's.
The smallest diameter, lightest wheel with the largest contact patch and the least amount of unsprung rotating mass possible
Oh and damned the looks; performance is everything!

I am curious too. I'd be next in line to buy a set for the track. I don't think my extra set of '07 GT500 rims would look so hot and I know they're a ton heavier

+3 for 18s.
Good luck finding 19" r-comps, anyways. And if you can, they're gonna be another $250/set minimum vs. 18s.
275/40/18 all the way around FTW. 35s if you want a little shorter effective gear ratio; 35s seem to slide a bit easier due to the shorter sidewall (less effective spring at the wheel).

Ask Blackbolt9 over on corner-carvers (also on svtperfomance). He works part time for Rehagen Racing. They are a distributor for these wheels as well as an end-user race team................. He should be able to answer.

Cool. Thanks to everybody for replies.
I should have mentioned before that I am not on a limitless budget. This is something that is more or less going to be a hobby, and I'll see limited track time.
At this point, I'm honestly considering picking up a cheap set of 18" 2010 GT500 wheels and putting R-comps on them. Yeah, they're not the lightest wheels in the world but they're cheap, they will fit over the brakes and they're fairly wide (9.5"). I'd also consider the Laguna Seca style wheel from FRPP (with black paint vice red), but I'm guessing those wheels will probably run $400+ each, and they are 19s.
Thanks, this is exactly the problem I was running into- I couldn't find a good tire selection in 19" on tirerack. It's good to know a size to have as a reference as well.
Nice. Post pics!

I know you got a killer deal on those tires, you'll need to step up to a real r-comp after you burn those out, though. Can't rotate those KD's either :-/

You can't rotate the KD's? I know they're directional. You can still swap them front to back, right?
