looking for 18 inch track wheels....light and inexpensive

I am looking for 18 inch track wheels. Fronts 18x9.5/10 and rears 18x10.5/11. I am looking to spend $500 or less per wheel. The wheels must be light around 21-22 pounds as a max weight. I really like the design of the 302r wheel and I am looking for something similar to that in either flat black or possibly bronze. However I am open to whatever is out there.

Again the rim size must be as listed. I run wider tires for the track and these are the rim sizes that work with the tires I will use.

Any ideas. Right now I am tracking Enkei PF01s as a wheel that fits my criteria.

Have you checked to see if the Enkei RPF01s will fit? I think they come in those sizes.

*edit* Just read the last line of your post.

Forgestar F14s would also be a similar weight to the TSWs.

I should add that the TSW meet all of your criteria (size, weight, appearance), except I don't know for certain that they have a fitment for Mustangs. Their fitment guide was down, so you might have to call.

They do. The TSW and Forgestar use the same manufacturing process.

Yes I know it would up your budget a little but I am going with CCW's

Light and Forged, the real thing, and only a few $$ more. John will also steer you right with offsets that are correct for the Boss not some generic offset like the Enkie which are not ideal for either the front or rear.

I have been told that it is important to get the correct offset for your car. Otherwise, you will wear out your wheel bearings a lot faster. And I don't think replacing bearings is a trivial job.

ccw's

as mentioned, definitely will run you higher than your budget, but their product is very good and their service is top notch.

These are slightly lighter TSWs and the same price and rotary forged. Not as common a style which is one reason I went with these but mine are 20".

Do you know if these come in the proper offsets in 18x9.5 and 18x10.5?

true for everything

Keith Bontrager of mountain bike fame is well-known for his quote, which drove his design philosophy:
Strong. Light. Cheap. Pick two.

I talked to thee different people that all called tsw direct. In these sizes the offsets will not fit for the nurburgring wheels. They only fit with front 8.5 rear 9.5

No one is saying cheap.... Inexpensive is what I am saying. $1k per wheel for HRE or whatever is ridiculous...

I went to the Forgestar factory in OC this past Spring and checked out their wheels. They look great and look to be a solid company. I don't like the idea of centering rings so I bought the Ford Racing SVT PP wheels instead for street use. Maybe the rings are not a big deal. If it's not they have 9.5's and 11's with the proper offset and guys have been running them. They are about $1,500 a set.

Not one to argue, but CCW's are not as light as the Enkie wheels posted. I've owned 4 sets of CCWs in 16", 17" and 18" diameters from 9" to 12" width. They aren't that light.

They are incredibly strong... and re-buildable. put the car into a curb? Purchase another wheel half. I've bounced them off of 1000s of curbs and never bent one (lucky!). I've got a 17x9 setup for an M3 sitting in my basement right now as I refuse to give them away (they make pretty end-tables ).

However, if there ever was a company to stand behind it's wheels, that's John and CCW. He has over-nighted me parts when I was at a race and in a bind. He's walked me through rebuild steps at 11pm... he's worked with me on custom offsets and fitments. You'd be hard pressed to find a company like that today.

re: ccw weights

my last set of ccw's were their 'classic' 3 piece design with the lighter weight 'track' hole option (as Jscheier points out...they're rebuildable)...and the weights were 19.5lbs for 18x9.5 and 20.2lbs for 18x10 - that's pretty light.
