Toyo R888
Anybody run the Toyo R888s on the street? My car is not a daily driver just wondering if they drive ok on the street. Don't care how many miles I get out of them just want real good grip and not have to change tires just to do an autocross or a little road coarse action.

A Man Just Needs Some....
KcoTiger is running them and speaks highly of them. I'm having trouble right now getting them through my local tire dealers so you may have to order them online. You should be really satisfied.

For that kind of money look into a set of Michelin Super Sports -- great street tire, that does very well at the track ( many of the guys doing the " One Lap of America," are running them. Check out Tire Rack for great pricing -- ask for Luke Pavlick ( ext#4362 ) , he has helped a bunch Boss owners with tires, rims, etc.

Did my first track day a couple of weeks ago on my p zeros. I thought they worked very well after wormed up. It was a upper 70s day and I got four good runs in on Pacific Raceways our local 2 and 1/4 mile track. The car performed flawlessly and I had a blast. I have spoken to lots of other guys about tires and I think my next set will be the Michalin pilot sports.

So are you running pirellis or the Toyos? I've had the 888s on now for a while and still can't complain. I've had both tire merchants and fellow drivers tell me that the michelins won't grip as much or as well. The 888s are track tires first and foremost and they perform like them. Driving in the rain is not recommended unless you're careful, and I mean REALLY careful.

Honestly I'm not sure I'd use the tpms on the track with dedicated track wheels/tires. There's not much need since you have down time to check everything on the car before the next run.

I just installed the R888 on my '13 Boss 302 but on new Forgestar F14 wheels, 19x9 frt and 19x10 Rr. went with 265-35-19 front and 295-30-19 rear .Much lighter than stock wheels and look great. Did a full day at Thunderbolt on them. To work properly, they need to be scuffed so after 5 hot laps, they get real sticky. Improved my lap time by a full 1.5 sec over the OEM Pirelli Pzeros. On the road, they're no different than other tires.but they're meant for track days. Have not used them on rainy days. Saving Pirellis for that.
