strange clutch action
strange clutch action
What's up with the clutch being stiffer than normal, (about twice as stiff) under medium heavy load? It seems to happen randomly, I can't seem to replicate it, but it seems to happen when shifting around 4 to 6k rpms. The clutch still disengages fully and engages fully, but the feel of it is totally different. problem?
I think I have had the same thing happen to you were it seems almost to force back on your foot if your not shifting quick enough. I think it has something to do with the master cylinder but I have no idea why it happens.
The odd thing about these cars is it seems that, for instance, you and I could have the same issue and you could fix the issue with the pedal box mod and I would have to change everything to fix it.
I hate seeing these threads, there have been so many clutch/transmisson problems with these cars (Gt's and Boss). My boss did the same thing and had the pedal stick to the ground at 1200 miles. These cars are so great minus that one weak area. Really wish ford would step up and fix them instead of all the band aid fixes going around.

I'm sure Ford is well aware of the clutch problem, especially affecting the Boss 302 because of its higher redline. You can report it all you want, but most dealerships won't do anything about it because there is no TSB other than TSB 10-19-4 that is only applicable to early 2011's, and they cannot or will not try to replicate the problem for themselves.
Deysha - Any help would be appreciated.

I got a customer with the exact problem on his boss. Well actually his car does it all the time, only it engages perfectly. He's got like 12k miles on his already. He took it to the SVT dealer in San Antonio yesterday. We are hoping they figure it out for him. I will post whatever they find and their correction. So far mine with 4500 miles is really soft, but of course it jams periodically at high rpm shifts.
Does the GT and Boss have the same trans? I've seen window stickers for Boss Mustangs and the trans is listed as MT82, i would have thought the Boss would have something different.
My '12 GT seems to lose some of the pedel travel after a couple of spirited shifts, really disappointing.
I ordered a braided steel clutch line to see if that cures the problem, it's been said the factory line ballons and causes this.

Got the same issue with spirited shifts. Had to manually pop the clutch pedal back up with my foot while moving.
Gotta a dealer appt on Friday but if they dont have a fix, Ill try this. May just do it anyway. Not confident hitting the track with a sticking clutch pedal.
