The reason for the 3500rpm is because I don't want some kid performing a PDI on my car bumping the rev limit before it has a chance to even warm up the oil. Yes I do know the car does not have full power until after 10 miles but thats not my point.
This is not my first rodeo ordering a car...........I do know that Ford has to drive the car before it is sold. I also know that anyone with just a little bit of training and a set of instructions my 5 year old could read can be hired to perform a pdi.
BTW who cares what the car cost? 50k or 150k it's my car.

Most dealers do not allow the young ones to do pdi. They know the mentality of us young ones just as much as you do.

Again not being much of an expert like you but I think I would find a new dealer for service if the PDI mechanic can not see a broken LCA or loose lug nuts without having the wheel fall off himself on the road, I am kind of picky like that.

For the OP, there is nothing that says they need to drive it off the lot. In fact many dealers do not even want to take a chance on public roads with customer's cars.

Oh - and mine was test driven at the factory, I was happy about that
Thanks for your response.........very good info!

There IS a reason...

Like I said before, if a wheel falls off on your way home, you're gonna want to sue somebody. You are asking for trouble and I wouldn't deliver it that way unless you signed a waiver.
Yup...

Honestly, leaving all plastic on, no wash, and just completing the PDI is a good start. Mine had 7 miles on it from the dealer and was fully wrapped when it came off the truck. I went to the dealer to get a look at it and pulled the plastic myself, then the PDI was done.
Good points...

Every dealer PDI's cars. They are paid by Ford to do this. Inspect all fluids, check brakes, lights, signals, wipers, radio, pw/pl, etc, etc. Check for noises, overheating, etc, etc.

My guy has been doing it for years and honestly our cars aren't as special to him as they are to us. That's not to say he soesn't take excellent care of them, but "hot-rodding" doesn't do anything for him.

OP - it's OK to be concerned for your new "investment", but IMO you can lighten up just a bit. Enjoy your ride!

This dealership is very small and I think they will be good with the above don't do's.

Anyone else have sugestions?
Back to this: make sure the tech changes into a fresh tyvec suit along with booties. Hair net and and latex gloves. Make sure he brushes his teeth and blows his nose first. No buggers in the car.
Wow you guys are funny.

You can't really tell the tech how to do his job. But if you wanna be there to supervise, then I think that's understandable. Just make sure they check your oil level...

I don't CARE how you "feel" about your car. I would GUESS that it is similar to the rest of the fringe lunatics (such as myself) on this forum.

I don't think you were being "harsh" either

LOL, you and I always (but in a good way). I don't mean this in a bad way but prove me wrong and show me where it says the car MUST be test driven, as I have never seen it. Then if that is the case what are the parameters of the test drive, side street? Do you need to get it to highway speed? Does it have to be driven in the rain and snow? (long trip from here) How many miles must they drive? What RPM's must be achieved? Does someone test drive all fleet sales at the dealer end? so-on and so-on. Where does it end, most likely never and that is why I have yet to see it in writing.

Some people are stating as fact a test drive must be done because (I) people would sue if something was wrong. Then there must be a stringent set of guidelines (written by Lawyers) to follow. Because if I am so going to sue I can dam well sue when the wheel falls off my car and come to find out the tech only went 35MPH and not 65 for 23.75 miles of open highway.

My only problem with this thread is people are saying they know for sure but provide no proof - so again please show me

Understood, I got the same but paid for it in a dealer fee. However this is normally done by the sales people. It is not a part of PDI.
