Geeze and all this time I've been turning the radio down to hear the true music under the hood.

Ups is delivery a little more than the guy the other company hired from home depot and if you had the change you could have received it before 10:30 you cheapskate.

Are you management or a driver?

Installing my speakers right now.

Did you just bend the mounting tab that's not being used? Speakers state right on them custom fit for Ford and Mazda. Maybe the Mazda's use the extra mounting tabs?

Taking the door apart was a piece of cake and I used the video below. FYI you'll need 7 and 6 mm sockets and at T-30 Torx. Of course I had a T-25 and T-40 but no T-30.

Thats what I did. But I actually took them off, just bend them back a forth a few times and they snap off easily, they actually have an indentation on the tabs to allow this.

I cut them off with wire cutters. Tell s where you like to set the bass and treble after you have auditioned the new speakers.

I think they're going to be fine.
I got a pair of these as well for my wife's GT, haven't had a chance to install yet, did the system upgrade in my 97 Merc first. You mean some hearty piano notes like these @ around 5:47 of this vid? Great demo song imho.

I need to make another without cranking it up so much. But I did want to hear the bass notes 6:50 punching from the subwoofer. Sounds phenomenal in the car, but way too bright and over equalized on youtube... Oh well. Next time.

p.s.

Check out the Boss 302 vid on my page too... short and sweet. Can't wait for my 2013 Race Red

I just got back from taking a spin and there is a nice improvement in the SQ. The HF is much clearer and open and the LF is much less muddy. I started with Dave's recommendations but like my bass a bit hotter and moved it to +1 with the treble at +1. Hard to beat for $90 and one hours worth of time.

I was listening to the stereo in my Boss last night and dropped the bass down to 0. Overall I'm very happy with the upgraded speakers and the stock head unit has plenty of power to drive them to play "stupid loud".

Wish I would have seen this thread. I just installed these this weekend with the helpful vid from Rick. I noticed the ears wouldn't go in so had to cut one of them off on the driver side. The passenger side went ok. Just used a wire cutter. Man do they sound GREAT.....at least compared to the factory speakers. Huge improvement for the small investment.
