Sneak Peak - Steeda BOSS 302 specific cold air system

We've been working behind the scenes to make a Boss specific cold air system. While our current 5.0L GT system will fit a Boss car we wanted to improve the fit and while we were at it, improve the air intake system itself.

Here is a sneak peak at those efforts.

The inlet tube has been revised for a direct fit. As many of you know the throttle body is in a different position and angle than the 5.0L GT which makes it a chore to install aftermarket cold airs designed for the GT.

As you can see from this shot the angle the tube meets the throttle body is correct, with the GT kit you end up with an angle between the tube and the silicone connection since it is intended for the GT application. It works but its not really correct. Our new set up will be.

It will also feature a larger diameter to accomodate the higher airflow potential of the Boss 302 set up.

Comments welcome.

Thanks Gus. Do you know if your CAI seals against the 302S hood or do the vents come too far forward?

We have not seen one to know for sure. We've only got a couple of prototypes running around.

Great effort!, Will it get fresh air from the scoop that goes through the radiator support? Would it be possible to make an extension to that scoop to have a more direct path of fresh air via the grille/foglamp hole?

Great looking piece..I noticed the Nitrous Express kit..how much are you spraying on the car? I can only assume that the CAI will require a tune?

We started with 125 and are now up to 150. Yes the cold air will require a tune.

Not trying to ruin Gus' business....but why get this for the Boss? If you're going to add CAI, which will require a tune and which will not work with the Track Key, then why not just buy a GT and mod it as you see fit?

Why not be able to mod your Boss without track key if you see fit?

I just think it kind of defeats the whole purpose of what the Boss is. So I'm asking why mod this purpose built mustang? And if one wants to mod it why not start with the cheaper GT?

Maybe some want to start with a car with the forged motor and great suspension.

You act like this car is the best thing since the invention of electricity. I'll bet you the '69 - '70 Boss were modded as well. I don't believe every single one was kept bone stock.

My car will stay on stock tune or track Key tune only.. but that's me.

but the real question is.... WHY DO YOU CARE WHAT SOMEONE ELSE WANTS TO DO TO THEIR CAR!!!! Your over the top with this crap

Thank you for Specifically trying to make the Boss better. I like your attention to detail regarding the inlet angle. We're not just driving GT's here. I think I'll pass on the tune for now. Oh wait, do you get Nitrous?

By the time my warranty is up, it may be worth trying something new.

I was anxious and bought another company's CAI for the BOSS back in May/June... never installed due to waiting to see what TK offered. I think I'll be selling it and getting this, especially since this is BOSS specific, whereas my other one is for the 5.0...

Looks like a great product, Gus. I'd also be interested in a CF version.

I think your reply is pretty over the top. I simply asked why would you want to mod it? I didn't make any exaggerated claims about the car. It was just a simple question.
