Smile Shifter, Track Key

I installed MGW shifter with heat shield yesterday. This is my opinion only as many have been happy with the stock shifter, but to me the difference is night and day. I missed shifts reglarly with the stock unit and so far not one with the MGW. The feel of the MGW is solid and precise, just the way I like it.
I also had TrackKey installed. I for one am not upset with Ford. They delivered just what they said they would, no more no less. It was not their fault that CARB screwed around for so long. The lopey idle is awesome. I already have received many comments on the sound. It is just a blast to drive this car with the retro cam sound when you are at a light or in a parking lot.

I for one am thrilled with my BOSS!

Exactly!!!!

My MGW shifter went in this past week. Excellent product. The Feel of the shifter is the most critical improvement, in my opinion. I have also missed shifts with the vague shifter ford supplied.

The Track Key, also is a nice improvement. Although not exctly as first introduced, the track key does produce a noticeable difference. A few days back I was fueling the car, probable my only negative experience with the BOSS. A guy at another pump asked if the car had a blower. He stated that he heard the car and assumed the car was blown. I assured him the car was stock. Probably the first BOSS he has bee or heard. I do notice the difference in engine braking, idle, exhaust and wow factor.

Really considering installing the shifter in the Spring, garage isn't big enough to do it in the winter. TracKey will have to wait until I get back stateside, but it will happen.

Have you contacted Ford Racing about the Trackey? I remember someone saying Ford Racing told a dealer to send them the PCM and they would load the program onto it. Only problem might be the key itself since the way I understand this it is a two step process and the first step is getting the car to recognize the key. Still there may be a way for them to do this, might be worth a try since you are putting the car up for winter.

I haven't, but I was thinking the same thing when somebody had asked me about it. As much as I would love to have it I can wait. Rather that then the PCM getting lost or damaged in the mail!

You do not need to send the PCM to Ford Racing just take the car to a Ford Racing Dealer and they will handle everything. Remember you must ask if they are a Ford Racing dealer most are not. It took me three three dealers before I found one. They did an excellent job and are about an hour from mine home and I am sticking with them. I do find it sad that you purchase a car from one dealer and must have it serviced at another, great way to lose customers.

I, as well as many other owners, had their trackey's installed at a non-ford racing dealer.

That is correct.

Jim, the reason for the discussion is that he is in Germany.

Hey guys,

Just to clarify and for future reference (new members and such): Every dealership in the US and Canada received communications describing how to purchase TracKey. It is not necessary for a dealership to be a Ford Racing dealer to purchase or install TracKey.

The two dealers I went to would not order it or install it for me. They both told me I must go to a Ford Racing Dealer. This was the parts manager at both dealerships.
