I had the same issue last night drag racing on 1/4 mile track. I had left traction control and stablitly control on. Towards the last part of the 1st run, doing over 100mph, the car felt like it ran out of fuel. I did not hit the rev limiter (on that run anyways!). I had about 1/4 tank of fuel. For the next run I shut off traction control and stablity control. Problem solved for the rest of the night. On that first run I did spin and wheel hop on take off and 2nd gear shift. I did not feel any slipping after that. I am thinking that maybe stability control kicked in at the end. Later that night I did hit the rev limiter once or twice and it was not the same as my first run issue. Canuck, did you have traction control and stablitly control shut off? oh, the best I could do with my Boss is 12.9. @ 111 mph. I am not very good at the start. Another Boss there did 12.6.

Ran the Boss at Sebring today, 18 turns. Had it below 1/2 twice and the last session it said 11 miles to empty, so it had abot 2.2 gallons in it. Ran perfect, now if I can only figure out the shifting thing.
First chip I took was the front bumper cover while on the trailer.

I am not familiar with Sebring, were there any tight left hand corners and if so were you pushing the car hard in those corners?

I bought my car from Woodridge (same owner) because Advantage had 4 people on the waiting list and were only getting 3 cars. I got the first Boss from Woodridge, their second one I do not think comes until September. I was fortunate to get my car so early so I didn't miss this years race season. We may be without a track next year which I will not be happy about.
Unfortunately for you the series I run in is called Time Attack and is organized by the Calgary Sports Car Club. They require all new drivers to attend a two day school at the beginning of the year in order to compete in the series. I would love to see more Mustangs in the series! If the track is still open next year hopefully you could join us.

The 2011 Mustang v6 and v8 had a TSB for a fuel gauge problem. In that TSB there was some interesting information on the pump and tank design. Here is a bit from that TSB. I assume the system is the same for 2012. For what it is worth.....
"Mustang has a saddle type fuel tank in that there is a hump in the middle of the fuel tank for the driveshaft.
There is one electric pump and fuel level sensor (FL-1) on the LH (driver side) of the fuel tank, this is the FPM.
There is a fuel pick up and fuel level sensor (FL-2) on the RH (passenger side) of the fuel tank.
The system draws fuel first from the RH side of the tank. The FPM siphons fuel from the RH side of the tank via the fuel pick up. Once the fuel level on the RH is too low to siphon fuel, there are check valves that close and the fuel will now be drawn from the LH side of the tank via the FPM."

I am hoping that Cloud9 is able to respond to this thread because I think he has as much track time as anyone on this forum and I would be interested to see if he has experienced this issue.

Hump in the middle what an understatement. I had the car on the hoist yesterday (more brake work and tire rotation) and had a look at the fuel tank. It appears to me that there are basically two fuel tanks because the driveshaft goes right between them. The tanks are all shrouded in plastic so it is very difficult to see anything in the way of where the fuel pump is mounted etc.. The fuel tank design is very interesting to say the least.

Yes and there are two maybe three pumps, I forget exactly how many cross feed pumps one or two.

Just curious, when you say "traction control", do you mean stability control also. They are both different. Stability control will also take power away from the engine. To shut both off you have to hold the TC button down for 5 second while holding down the brake pedal. Lets hope its not a fuel delivery problem... I would hate to have to show my dealer when it acts up!

At least one or two hard left, two double apex lefts and one long left high speed turn. Here it is
Yea buddy it was hot out there but with HOD we got to use the garages at no cost Even had the space for the hauler next to it Daytona soon

I have one vid on the quarter window but they are nothing more then wind noise. I have to remember to bring the mount for the inside one day as that is the only way to get any sound other then wind. I did not even bother to take out the 7/8 discs this time, I drive the car way under it's capabilities anyway. Thanks for the comments, I did do some slipping and sliding out there but managed to stay on the track this time.
Here is one from another car of the Boss
Edit quarter view

Check out this link to Ford 2011 service manuals. There is a lot of info on the 2011 fuel system including pdf files with the tank, fuel pump and pickups.

it is the same set up as the mazda rx8..
so my best guess as this is the first time it has popped up is your pump might be weak..
i did get the fuel cut at sebring. i forget what corner # is was, there are so many.
so your guys have two one of issues right now, this, and the odd missfire into the limp mode.. tech says it was the crank sensor.

This weekend I did not encounter the random misfire issue. The curbing/rumble strips for the most part are smooth at BIR though. I was banging them routinely so that seems to validate engineering's finding that the P0300 is caused by vibrations transmitted through the drivetrain to the crankshaft.
As far as our tanks go on the S197, there has been a consistent issue with fill ups. I have to hold the nozzle at 90 degrees and only insert about halfway when filling up the GT500. I can only go to the first click on the pump handle as well or it will vapor lock and shoot fuel out clicking off the pump. The Boss seems to fill a little better, but I still only go to the first click. There seems to be an issue with the flow on how the fill tube has to be routed through the chassis. I'll be watching this thread with interest though.

That's really interesting. I've always been annoyed at my car, which wouldn't seem to allow me to use the auto-fill clicks at some pumps. I thought maybe a vent line was crimped or something.

Yea it's just an annoyance I guess. I did see a class action lawsuit was actually filed at some point which I thought was a bit much. Not sure what ever became of that, but as an attorney you might have some insight. The Boss definitely takes fuel better than the GT500 and hasn't been a real issue as long as you don't go full throttle on it. Only adds a minute to the fill-up time.

Not sure what to say on that. Given that I had the issue on four separate occasions and Dave did as well, along with the response from engineering tells me it's an issue in the tune that they must be aware of. I'm not too worried about it, but something that will need to get fixed. Of course the best fix for it is TracKey
