THE RED KEY!!!!
I'm the exact opposite. Very glad to have the integrated key after years of having the dangling fob etc hit my knees while driving.
That's what she said.
I agree, the fob in the key is best. It makes for a large key but what key isn't awkward these days. Adam has mentioned before the key sense where you don't even have to use the key to start the car is another option.
It's just much easier to have the fob in key design. Plus, that is how some keys are read by sticking the key into the ignition so the external fob would be of no use. After installing car alarms for a while I just liked the simplicity of a key fob, rather than a key and fob.

Guess I am just getting old and been use to the separate flob. The big issue I have is hitting the buttons as I start and turn off the car. I also rented a car once with the push button and really hated that. I will not be happy if that makes it into the stang.
It's a done deal, man...you're gonna have to learn to cope.
