Rear-ended
I wouldn't worry about the CarFax thing too much. That's about as mild a hit as one can get-bumper cover, diffuser panel, and some exhaust bits. Could have been a lot worse. Just take plenty of before and after pics in case you ever sell, so you can prove the light damage. Good luck.

I sold my '06 GT to get my Boss and it had gotten rear-ended a year prior to selling it. I ended up taking the $$ because I took pictures of the damage which to the casual observer was very difficult to see. However, my dad and I being particular couldn't see much other than that my stripes cracked. It was on the carfax when I sold it and I made it very clear what had happened and had the pictures to prove it. Turns out I wasn't even in the country when I sold the car and the guy didn't have too big a problem with it because I was honest about it and it was a very minor accident.

Best of luck to you on your repairs. Like stated above.......does not look to bad. Take the advise / Find the shop w/ the best reputation. Honestly, I'd call the local Porsche dealer and find out who they use for body work.
Ask for referances and to see there work. A Great body shop will have a scrap book with pictures of there work and may even provide people to contact. Good Luck on your repairs. I know it must hurt looking at it.

And does anyone know a Dallas/Fort Worth dealership with a particularly good-quality service shop and body shop?

A Ford tech is used to repairing Taurus' and Focus', and the level of quality those customers expect. Porsche owners tend to be a tad more particular.
Sorry, and good luck.

I have been watching my rear view and the space in front of me ever since I got rear ended 20 years ago. I have to say in doing that I have saved myself from being rear ended a couple of times since then. Hope it all gets fixed to your satisfaction quickly.
Thanks for the input, gang. I'm still hunting around for a good shop. I was considering Bankston Collision center in Fort Worth, but I've since heard from a couple of friends that thought they did shoddy work. I'll be calling the Porsche places tomorrow as well as looking into a non-dealer shop that a fellow forum member suggested.
I've had quite a bit of work done by T&A Collision in Sachse:
They painted my '71 Corvette. All the body work was already done, they laid the paint and cut/polish. Came out looking killer.
My Boss replaced a '05 BMW M3. A truck bumped into the left front fender. T&A did all the repairs and I also had them repaint the hood as it had plenty of chips. The car was silver metallic and the blends were done so well you couldn't tell anything had been repaired/repainted.
The owner of the shop does all the painting himself. Very nice guy.
972-496-0302, ask for Tim (owner).

Finally fixed
Well, she's finally back and she looks as good as new.
It took a lot of back and forth with the shop to get things just right, but the end result was worth the hassle. Now I just need to get a force-field of some sort figured out to keep it from happening again.
Lousy phone pic, I know.

I used Bankston Ford Collision center in Fort Worth. It turns out the bad reviews I'd heard about them were about another location. I spoke to the rep and the shop manager before agreeing to let them do the work (letting them know I'd be THAT GUY who inspects every detail). They agreed to make it like new.
I did have to live up to my "threat" of being picky, unfortunately. They had to spray & clear coat the bumper cover a second time when I pointed out a couple of minor flaws. The guy who does stripes for them messed it up twice... yep, just the two small stripes on the bumper. I ended up having them give me the stripes and I had them installed by a guy I know who does exceptional work. They're on perfectly now, and my stripes guy billed it to Bankston (previously agreed upon). It's now "as it was", which is all I wanted. I took a long time though. In addition to the above...
- To replace the left axle-back, they had to order it four times. The first two showed up damaged, one looking worse than the original that had been hit. The third was somehow lost in transit. The fourth was ordered with a note to wrap it carefully and securely, and it actually showed up pristine.
- They had to buy two new lower plastic valance panels. They damaged the first replacement, ever-so-slightly, when they removed the bumper cover the second time to repair it correctly.
- They had to buy three sets of side stripes (two screwed up by their stripe guy).
At the end of the day, I'm happy to have it back and am very happy with the results. They were lacking in communication at points along the way, but in the end they followed through to get it right. When they had to order the second plastic valance, the manager called me to apologize in advance. He told me that the "damage" was very minor scratches, but he knew that I'd notice so he went ahead and ordered another one.

Similar situation happened to me today. I was rear-ended today stopped at a light by a Mitsubishi pickup which seemed to be doing about 20 mph. I'm pretty impressed with how well these cars are built, but man am I upset. The front bumper on his truck was just about hanging off, my damage looks almost identical to twawsico's except there's some damage to the lower trunk section between the tail lamps. Most of the damage appears to be done to the support/impact structure behind the bumper cover and coincidentally my neck and back. All this after getting laid off Thursday, not sure I have a lot of love for 2012 so far. I guess we'll see what the dealer says Monday. I'm really wondering at this point how all of this will effect the value of the car, even though I have no plans of ever getting rid of it?
