Question RE: warranty service

She's got a little over 2000 miles and won't be tracked for a bit, so I figure I'll go maybe 5000 until oil change. Want to keep under warranty and found a dealer whose service dept comes recommended for street rods. You guys think I should program a MyKey for max speed of 35-40 to prevent joy riding? At what mileage are you bringing yours in if you're not doing it yourself (I assume this voids warranty)? My first brand new ride so I'm unclear, thanks.

I've never heard of your warranty being voided from doing your own oil changes. I normally do mine myself but I live in an apartment complex now so I'll just take it to ford or some other local shop for the change.

1. I'm 99.99% positive you can't program max speed that low. I think it's 80 I'm just too lazy to go look.

2. Doing oil changes yourself doesn't void your warranty.

I don't think you can change the max speed mph, only turn it on or off with the max speed being 80mph.

I would only go 2500 to 3000 miles before the first oil change. I own an automotive machine shop and build a lot of performance engines. If we run the engine on the dyno I do a break in and many times change the oil prior to actually doing a pull. Remember in a new engine there are all new parts that need to "seat" and while that is happening there is a possibility that there may be some metal particles that would be in the oil and I have seen it where if the bypass in the oil filter happens to stick they are circulation through the engine. I also cut the base off the canister of the filter and look at the paper element to see if there seems to be an excess of shiny (metallic) particles trapped there. Dont worry about the Mykey as I would tell the dealer you will not let the car out of your sight and will be watching how the tech drives it. I also do all my own oil changes but on my new vehicles I take them to the dealer in case a problem does arise there is no question if the oil was changed when it was supposed to be.
Hope this does not confuse you.

Thanks, Bob, makes sense. Maybe I'll schedule for 3000 and see how it goes once I get there. They should understand I want to be present anyway.

I think when I played with the mykey feature it started at 20 mph. I"ll double check in the morning.
