Pypes muffler delete for the Boss???

I followed my wife yesterday while she ran through the gears 2-4, and ran each gear to about 6000 and could not hear the Boss at all!!!

I only could hear it just slightly in town when she revved it a little at a stop light. Anyway as you all know I was the first one to remove the silencing discs in the side eaxhaust and LOVE how it sounds next to, and in the car. Problem is there is no rumble around the car at lower in town revs(under 5500)

I am thinking since it not my DD I want to do the Pypes axlehttp://www.pypesexhaust.com/sys-mustang2.html#02 backhttp://www.pypesexhaust.com/sys-mustang2.html#03 or their midmuffler and muffler delete cat back system

What do you guys think??

If you're keeping up with your wife at roughly 90mph (4th gear 6k), maybe you couldn't hear over the sound of your own exhaust.

Your wife sounds like a keeper.

Keep in mind you were using the black key tune. Maybe you should wait and see what effect, if any, the TracKey provides.

On the lighter side, maybe you need hearing aids? lol

Oh snap I knew something was amiss!!! LOL

Anyway I was driving a stock Camry SE and reeeaally was listening hard with the windows down until 50 and then rolled the windows up and gave up!

I guess my issue is i keep wanting the sound of my 99 GT...It had shorty's, o/r x pipe and flowmaster 44's. I LOVED the sound!!!!

I know with the Coyote's different firing order and exhaust set up it will NEVER sound like my 99 but I wish to have this thing sound sick as **** and rumble the ground at the lower revs and scream at the high rpm's!!!

BTW the wife is really a car girl...she was pissed when i sold her Talon, and then the stage 2+ S4. She drove my STi regularly but hated the suspension but she said she's afraid to drive the Boss as she said "it's like your 3rd kid!"

The sound should change when you get the trac key. There is a sound clip on youtube with the different keys. I would wait until the key comes out before making dramatic changes.

Ther was a 2010 gt at work today and it sounded great. I asked the owner what exhaust he had and he said it was stock Sounded way nicer than the Boss mufflers...

So I will be replacing the catback with the Pypes system for more sound out of the rear

Exhaust change

Please be sure and do a before and after video/sound clip. It's hard to tell with just the after.
Thanks! Good Luck. The audio/video clip of the Pype Bomb was awesome!

Rookie question: does a catback get hooked up downstream from the sidepipe connection or will adding the catback require removing the sidepipes? I noticed the same quieter sound from the rear of the Boss.

H pipe back so keeps the sidepipes...now we can have surround sound muscle!! Just can't imagine how great it will sound after exhaust and the track key!!

The mid muffler system sounds really good on the new 5.0s...throw in some Dynatech long tubes too!

Deleting the cats, would definitely make it louder. Watch that 302S track test video. It's a stock Boss engine with full exhaust, minus the cats, but with the FR-1 mufflers. That sound was pure music!!

I love that sound...but most of the magic is from the mufflers, but the removal of the cats also helps lot!

You got to be careful about making things louder. It sounds like Ford dialed in a nice sound with the Boss. Yeah you can't hear it a mile away but it has a nice tone. Civics with exhaust prove everyday you can make things loud but not sound good.

I like what Borla has done lately with their exhaust designs. Actually taking different factors into account during the design other than just being loud. I'm interested to see if they take a stab at improving the Boss exhaust.

Obviously

personally I think open header big block cars sound like crap, but any VR6 VW with a magnaflow, or S4 with AWE true twins, an Sti with no cat but resonator, a 99 Mustang GT with o/r x pipe and flowmaster 2 chambers, all sound sick as **** to me!! BTW I HATE the sound of corvettes with exhaust but an Audi RS4 (v8) with no cats and resonators with AWE mufflers sounds simply amazing-

I know exactly what you mean...I just want more DEEPER rumble as the side exhaust is a little on the higher pitch side with not a ton of sound down low in the RPM. The TracKey will help...just imagine the key with a great exhaust!!

I think you need to let the mufflers "season" before you go changing them. It has been my experience that the volume seems to increase after about 3000-5000 miles.

I also would be leery of messing with the tone. The "music" I heard at Mustang Alley last August in the Boss test cars they had there was amazing.
