Opinions please.

Is it worth getting a cold air intake without a tune? I am told there is about 12BHP increase.....Cost about $370, is that worth it? e.g will I really notice it?
Opinions please..

Thanks I know that together they are good....but if I do just the CAI, is it worth it.
I have track key and don't want to mess with that.

IMO it depends... I put the Parnelli Jones carbon fiber Airraid on mine, lots of flack about what it was advertised to do and it didn't pan out performance wise but it absolutely looks killer and brings in a bit more intake sound. I suspect a bit of midrange is there also.

dont waste your money unless you want it for looks. just go with a k&n drop in if you dont want to tune the car. I have a Steeda Boss CAI and steeda tune worth every dollar. Had the trackey dont miss it at all.

Thanks guys.

So if I understand this correctly. If I put a tune on it then I lose the track key. I know they are subtle changes but there are 150+ changes that the track key makes, so do I want to lose those. I was never under the impression that track key gave more power, rather than it was like switching on sport mode on other cars.

If I put the CAI on and tune I get 30BHP, better torque and fuel economy.

If I put on Parnelli Jones, but cosmetic more than anything but so cool looking.

If I put the CAI and Tune on then I lose my warranty if it's engine related.

Ok, so for me personally I think I should drop it for now and do something else but that was helpful, thanks....

It's been verified that the CF Airaid CAI works fine with TK.

I thought they wouldn't sell you the CAI without the tuner??? Since it gives you such a big bump in hp and lets way more air in...

Just about everyone sells a CAI without a tune. The Airaid has a reduction sleeve in front of the MAF to it retains the stock airflow. If you add a tune later you remove the sleeve.

Found this on a website about mods:
===============================
Short Ram Intake (Cone Filter):

Why Not: If untuned for SRI, the MAF readings will be incorrect. ECU will think there is a problem and pull timing/fuel. You will lose power. ECU modification required. IAT – intake ambient temperatures. Dyno testing is done with the hood open and large fan blowing air into the intake. In the real world, even with a heat shield protecting the cone intake element from the motor, the car will take in hot air. Hot air is less dense. Less dense air makes less power. If you drive in very hot areas or stop/go traffic IAT will become worse. OEM airbox and cold air snorkel are well designed. 5whp increase for cost of intake is not a good ratio. Note: for a closed induction system (supercharger or turbocharger). If intercooled the density of the charge are will be changed.
