Oil
Oil
Who is using the Ford motor oil, and who has changed to something better? I get my oil changes done at a Ford Dealership, and they use the Ford oil. I assume people who change their own oil probably use something better? Are there better options, and can you get the oil changed somewhere else, with better oil?

Ford Motorcraft is good oil. I switched to Royal Purple, but only because sometimes they don't have Motorcraft synthetic available where I buy oil. I don't like switching so I use something that always available. I change my own oil.
I remember reading in the owner's manual Ford does not recommend using any oil additives.
As in heavier than 50 weight in the summer? Now I'm intrigued

I have my terms mixed up again. Talking to the race shop owner today, he recommended a higher cold weight oil for summer/track use.
15w-50 for summer and 5w-50 for winter. He also cautioned me on additives because they can be corrosive on the exhaust cats. Thoughts on oil?

As long as you keep clean oil and filters in your car, it's all good. I've used Mobil1 and now I'm using Royal purple in all 3 cars.
