No Sync in the Boss 302?!?!? WHAT?!?!?

All I said was, and Ford engineers say the same things, this car is a street-legal racecar. I guess you could add a boomin' stereo and satnav and such - it's your money.
And for the record, I am surprised nobody is talking in this thread about how much weight you'd SAVE by removing the stereo. Engineers will tell you that these days there is little to no difference in terms of weight in power vs. manual windows - technology is better than it was in the 80's - so who knows as of yet. I plan on waiting to see what the final decisions are in terms of classing from the SCCA and NASA. It will be difficult to know what I can and cannot get away with in weight reduction on this car until the rules are firmed up.
But yes, this car in the end will have everything I can remove and still stay legal in my classes, eventually. I guess I would have thought most folks who buy this car would think the same. I know as a DD, I'd buy a Shelby or GT before I'd buy this - and actually, that's exactly what I did.

In base form its no more of a race car then the Bullitt and less of a one then the Shelby with the SVT performace package. Taking this all in account, Ford should have at least offered the Sync package as an option. If your worried about weight, take off the 30 lbs in tape graphics
Granted, it is not a race car in the sense that a 302S or 302R is; but those will cost you an extra $30K or $110K respectively. This car will be light-years better than a Bullit and head and shoulders better than the GT500 SVTPP when it comes to road course use.
Trust me. There's a reason why I'm buying this car after dumping well over $20k in aftermarket parts into my GT500, (including the first Griggs suspension to grace a GT500). Like cloud9, our cars are already very capable track cars. But we're tired of fighting heat-soak and nose heavy cars; and tired of fishing for the right aftermarket systems to fix compromises made by Ford for driveability, NVH, road hazard clearances, ad nauseum............
We are the people that are Ford's target market with this car. And Ford hit the bull's eye!

1% of these cars represents 40 owners. There are at least 40 buyers on this board that track their cars already. The reason they are buying a Boss is to have a better track Mustang. Ford is INCLUDING a track attack event with the car! You don't think that there won't be many, many owners who never had the opportunity to put their car on track become addicted after that experience? I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "the local 24 hour race track" as I'm not familiar with any of those in this country. That said, I would expect as many as 50% of these cars will see some track duty, whether it's an HPDE at a road course, autox or even the drag strip. Heck, the owners supplement even includes recommended mods and maintenance schedules for cars seeing serious track duty.

WILL DEFINITELY TRACK THIS CAR CREW +1

Nice pics, C9...you bench the shaker 1000 subs for a workout?

I agree. This car instantly appeals to two type of people who will most likely make up the bigger percentage of buyers, real racers and original Boss owners (or those that always wanted one).
Hard to believe this thread is still going strong, if you fall into the two categories above you get the car and want it. I would have bought it with manual windows and an AM radio with one speaker in the back

Of those tracking the car (I'm in this group), will it be on the track more than it is on the street?
My PJ has ~19k miles and I've been to a road course 4-5 times and the drag strip 10-12. A FAR higher percentage of my driving is done on the street.

I'll track my car no more than 4 days a year and the rest will be weekend fun miles. No commuting to and from work or at least not on a regular basis. So probably 5% track time if I'm lucky.

3-4 track days a month, and hopefully more days than that on the street. I'll DD either the Boss or GT500 alternately, but I have no idea which one I'll prefer on the street. I am "guessing" the GT500 due to the Shaker 1000 and the fact that's it's more riceproof.

I would expect my LS to see about 50/50 track vs. road time. The GT500 will get more of the cruise miles from here on out....
that is unless I decide to completely gut and cage it...........
**** this track addiction.....mutter, mutter, mutter.....

Well, maybe 95%
I may have stretched it a bit. But the key question needs to be asked....Which one is better suited for that ocasional track day. The new Boss(Not the LS edition) or the Shelby with the SVT package? As the prices continue to dip on Shelbys and the price of the Boss, at least at first, get closer to 50k its a legit question. A Sterling Grey Shelby with the SVT package and the strip delete option for 50 k is a compelling option for me...

Read through the press releases on this site to see how much of this car is re-engineered to provide durable, reliable long-term track performance.

{Observer's side note: I find it humerous that we quibble over a few pounds here and there and its effect on the track, and yet none of us talk about staying lean or about losing that 30 pound beer gut. And don't look at me, I weigh a sturdy 165 pounds)}

sprint and I both have larger HEs, larger radiators and larger reservoirs in addition to the heavy supercharged motors so I have no idea how much those added to the nose when you add all that extra fluid to them.
