No Sync in the Boss 302?!?!? WHAT?!?!?

All I said was, and Ford engineers say the same things, this car is a street-legal racecar. I guess you could add a boomin' stereo and satnav and such - it's your money.
And for the record, I am surprised nobody is talking in this thread about how much weight you'd SAVE by removing the stereo. Engineers will tell you that these days there is little to no difference in terms of weight in power vs. manual windows - technology is better than it was in the 80's - so who knows as of yet. I plan on waiting to see what the final decisions are in terms of classing from the SCCA and NASA. It will be difficult to know what I can and cannot get away with in weight reduction on this car until the rules are firmed up.
But yes, this car in the end will have everything I can remove and still stay legal in my classes, eventually. I guess I would have thought most folks who buy this car would think the same. I know as a DD, I'd buy a Shelby or GT before I'd buy this - and actually, that's exactly what I did.

Thats where I am currently at.. and I think its your type of reasoning that is aiming me more towards the GT. I would feel bad to not track the Boss. At the same time I wouldnt spend 44k on something I wanted to strip down. In terms of all out race car I would buy a base and strip it bare before I would tear down a Boss. It to me is perfect as is and whatever value it may hold whether financially or sentimentally would be ruined..
Somewhere there is a guy with a 500KR all original except the seats he traded cause they were cooler and the better wheels... whats it worth ... not near as much as a pristine..
I on the other hand took a 10 month old 36k car and tore apart its 15 motor and now have a track car so what do I know.. but it wasnt a Boss 302

I for one am looking forward to a car that I don't have to change in any significant manner. If I had wanted leather seats, HID headlights and Sync I would have gone for either the GT500 or GT Premium. What I want though is a neutral handling car, with a high output, normally aspirated, dohc, four-valve-per-cylinder engine, a six-speed manual gearbox and some massive brakes. The Boss is perfect for my criteria, it's as if Ford made this model exactly as I would have done so myself if given the luxury of having access to FRPP's parts bin and the use of some enthusiastic automotive engineers.

Race Car?
Reading this blog you might think that most of the buyers leave there respective Ford dealerships, strap on a helmet and head for the local 24 hr race track. Really? 99% will never even get close. In base form its no more of a race car then the Bullitt and less of a one then the Shelby with the SVT performace package. Taking this all in account, Ford should have at least offered the Sync package as an option. If your worried about weight, take off the 30 lbs in tape graphics

I don't have a Shelby, but I know of quite a few people that are buying the car to replace their Shelby as their track car. So I wouldn't say that it is less of a race car by any means. Being N/A is a huge advantage on a track day in the middle of a blazing hot summer day. Not to mention the car is more balanced overall.

Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that Ford is making this. I just believe Sync is one of the great success stories for Ford. As a long time Mustang owner(First one was a 1969 Mach 1) this is truly the golden age. To have so many great choices and all of them worthy is some respect, including the V6, is wonderful.

Yeah, I had an '06 GT with the Shaker 1000...I have a feeling I will be missing that greatly. But that is also something that can be remedied easily if I feel the overwhelming need to. I plan on letting my right foot make most of the music anyhow

I resemble that remark, other than the trading in part. My GT500 has been modded well beyond the capabilities of an 11 with the SVTPP and I'm still retiring it for track use in favor of the more balanced N/A Boss. My GT500 with the Shaker 1000, leather seats and 640 rwhp will still make a great DD

I hear you there. I just got married last June, and I want a toy before kids come along. So she said "I'm not really into cars, so get whatever you want to get". The Boss is perfect for our current budget and all that good stuff. She wants no part in driving it, so it's definitely going to be all my toy...I can't wait! She is perfectly content just being a passenger, so it works out perfect

I'm at the other end of the curve. One in college and saved for the other one in HS. Now that the bills are paid, I get to play.

Haha, I know, I know. There are 2 points that help me out. First, she can't drive stick..although that doesn't really take too long to remedy. Second, she is a self proclaimed bad driver. I try to drive everywhere if we go somewhere together. She is one of those that could be a good driver if she actually paid attention to driving and not all of the other stuff around her Needless to say she doesn't need to be driving the new car of the household

I'll post pictures of my Boss with the toddler seat in the back so that when your first born arrives, you can show your wife that it's an appropriate family car. My 13 month old son will be riding to/from day care in the Boss, and I'm sure that he'll have fun back there!
