I would think here the burden of proof is on the accuser - so buy a bottle, send it off to Blackstone for analysis, and share your results. If something is amiss, it'll be shown in short order. Napa is fairly reputable and I have a hard time believing they'd do something as idiotic as this, but I am willing to be convinced by science :-)

So then, you think that when you visit New York, or Washington, or (insert your favorite city here), that when someone comes up to you and offers you a Rolex watch for $10 you are getting a real Rolex? NAPA doesn't always know where the products on their shelves are coming from. Other retailer have the same problem too. Our country is being flooded with Chinese counterfeit junk right now. If you don't believe this then you should read more often and spend a little less time cruising in your Boss. Still don't believe me - do a Google search for "chinese counterfeit products" and start reading. You will quickly realize we are at war for our economic survival. What do you think our country's trade deficit is with China? Why do you think its gotten so huge?
And yes, finished oil products such as MotorCraft, Mobil 1, etc... oil is been counterfeited as well as many automobile parts and sent into our country.
These are facts!
Read and you will see I am telling the truth.

Then why did'nt you just limit your post to the possibility of counterfeit oil? Btw, I don't disagree with you on all this as I have read about it and seen it in the news as well, but let's not loose site of the fact that this is a car forum about Mustangs after all.

Did you do the search of google for counterfeit chinese products I suggest to do? Do you really think we don't have a serious problem in this country dealing with this issue. Do the search and read and you will see US senators, defense officials and others are beginning to see the breadth and depth of this problem and the potential national security threat it represents to the US. There are numerous news articles I've read that medical patients have died taking counterfeit Chinese origin prescription drugs. And yes there are many counterfeit automobile parts including motor oils being shipped into the U too!. Take your head out of the sand and look into this topic yourself and you will see exactly what I am talking about. I have seen counterfeit Motorcraft and Mobil 1 oil for sale. My original post was to warn prospective buyers (including members of this forum) of inexpensive oil products they see in the marketplace. Do you not think this is a prudent recommendation?

I agree. Despite all the warranty voiding fear from using non factory recommended motor oil, I have never seen a case where a warranty was voided from this. I think any manufacturer is going to have a hard time voiding a warranty as long as you use an appropriate weight oil from any reputable company.

When every gas station in town is selling gasoline for $3.87 a gallon, and the guy on the other side of town is offering it for $1.80 you don't need "proof" to realize something is amiss. So when someone posts on this forum they can get oil for $5.00 a qt. when everybody else is selling it for $10 then one should question - do I want to go there. No - Mr. patent office custodian, life does not always require proof as some of the people you work with may be ignorant enough to believe. In many instances in life, common sense is good enough. Regarding Google - Google is a search engine. Google directs people to documents, pictures, videos, etc... on every topic known to mankind. Google can serve as a useful tool to research most anything. Did you realize that go can actually find factual scientific/technical documents on Google? You can also find legal proceedings too! You can find congressional testimony, text books and information from the Library of Congress. I assume you know what the Library of Congress is ... maybe I assume too much. So as I feel I am not under any obligation to provide legal proof regarding Chinese counterfeit motor oil products entering our country, I will however offer you some personal advice. Take time to read and expand your mind. Yes - even you can do it. Read a book or two - maybe even read something you find interesting on the Internet. Who knows, maybe someday sport, you could possibly advance your intellect sufficiently so you can get that promotion to administrative support!
Since you don't seem to be able to make your point without being personally insulting, I'll just leave you to it, then. Believe whatever you'd like. Google can also regale you with tales of Bigfoot and Elvis sightings, which I'd imagine also thrill you to no end. I read incessantly, but I also do not blindly believe everything I read on the Internet.
I'll be around, and if someday you - not some random search query results - wish prove your point, I'm happy to see what you bring to the table. Arguments of "you don't need FACTS or SCIENCE, everybody knows this" are tiresome and pointless. It's easy enough to prove, or disprove. I've done the tests and am satisfied with what I learned for myself. I do not ask that you trust me, I ask that you collect your own data and make up your own mind. As I do not think you are capable of accepting that, it is clear that you are finished here with anything resembling reasonable discourse. For my part, this will be my last reply on this topic.
Have a pleasant day.

Obviously someone has never heard of retailers selling a product at or below cost in order to bring in customers? Just because someone offers a product at a ridiculous price doesn't mean it is counterfeit or stolen.
