Mickey Thompson DR's Changed The Boss
Mickey Thompson DR's Changed The Boss
For the drag racing enthusiasts, I put Mickey Thompson Street Radial ET II's 305/35/19 on this week.
Prior to this I had to launch at 1500 rpm, just to be competitive. I also have AED tunes and this week was a game changer.
With the MT's, I can launch at 2200-2600 and the car just launches like crazy. Changed it !
I ran at Texas Motor Speedway, Friday Night Drags and won the Sportsman class (v8 NA, etc.) Beat 6 other cars. 3 were tuned Mustang GT's. One guy has a 2014 Auto, tuned, MT's and other mods. He beat me twice in the past few weeks, each time by nose. I beat him in the Semi's by over 2 car lengths.

I was running 17 lbs. IMHO they are absolutely worth the $$$.
I have the 305/35/18's on my GT and I'll never use a different brand of radial ever again. I used to spin every other run with other brand Radials. I haven't spun once since I put these on. Unlike other harder compound radials, the MT's Street ET's are softer too so they are as close to feeling like a bias ply tire you're going to get on a radial. I run mine at 19 lbs too.
Just as an fyi for everybody, with the 18 or 19's you don't need to run them at super low PSI either because there isn't a lot of sidewall, so you won't get any better launches by going too soft with them.

Sounds like a cool place. There was a track in Mississippi kinda like that. Don't remember the name of the town. Tree and win light. No time keeping. Pay entry fees and go find a race. Big money races all night long. Really cool place.
I would say the Gulfport Raceway (1/4 mile track in my neighborhood on the Gulf Coast), but they have the full tree and such. They run some minor NHRA events. Was it north or south of Hattiesburg? Oh, and us rednecks love cars.
