MD Boss Owners VEIP Issues..
boss owners who live in MD do you have any troubles with your boss passing inspection...mine will be coming up soon and i bought it in PA where there is a "exempt" sticker on the windshield for PA emissions. any problems or issues in MD with stock setup?
thanks,
thanks,
I haven't had to go through inspection for the boss yet. But for VEIP, they just hook up the OBD2, place a sniffer in the tailpipe (they may not do this for newer cars) and walk around the car with a mirror to check the under carriage (99% of the workers don't even look at the mirror while walking around the car).
So, if your Boss is stock, you have nothing to worry about. If you've done cat deletes and have turned off the CEL with a tune, you may fail the test. But i have no experience with cat deletes and tunes.

I work in MD and get my work truck inspected in Owens Mills, they don't use the wand, they just jack in to the OBD2, it's warranty work for 8yrs if you didn't mod it. I live in Pa and they check the gas cap. I'm not sure how they check it with out a gas cap. Pressure/ Vacuum test?
Very few, if any, states perform an actual sniffer test on OBD2 cars anymore. They just plug a computer into the port and check for codes and that all sensors are reading ready.
If you have cat deletes and a tune that turns the rear O2s off, you will fail because the sensors will read off rather than ready.
A stock Boss will not have any problem at all passing. If you took the plates out you may want to put them back in - won't affect emissions but they may fail you for noise.

I would think if you could have the PCM think the Cats are on and functioning but not actually reading for them, I guess possible if you have a good tuner who doesn't just know about cars.
