Installed the Bob's Autosports KR style rear axle expansion tank a couple of weeks ago. The tank was put to the test at Texas World Speedway earlier this month and it passed with no leaks or drips.

http://shop.bobsautosports.com/Musta...-reservoir.htm

The install is an easy with the car up on jack stands.

The first picture below show all the parts to the kit. Also in the pic is a turkey baster bulb.

I moved the axle tube hex head plug to the top of the differential cover where Ford installed the rattle vent cap. In it's place I installed an elbow barbed hose connection instead of the straight barbed hose connection that is supplied with the Bob's Autosports kit. I picked up the elbow fitting at Ace Hardware. I was concerned about the hose contacting the exhaust pipe. The elbow was turned towards the rear of the car so the hose would not rub on the diff cover when the car was back on the ground. The last picture was taken with the tires on the ground.

The rattle vent cap is relocated to the top of the expansion tank.

Thanks for the writeup and pics Al. I'm running tomorrow and Saturday at MPH and if the two basters I have (top of diff cover and axle tube) don't cut it, I'll be getting this kit. I didn't have any venting last Friday at MAM so I might not need it.

Did you have the suspension loaded or unloaded during install when you pulled the two UCA bolts or doesn't it matter? i.e. jack stands on the frame or under the rear axle.

Gary - The suspension was unloaded when I pulled the two bolts on the UCA. The car was supported on stands at the jacking points on the rocker pinch rail and the axle was hanging off the rear shocks. The last picture of the set is with the tires on the ground...I pushed the camera up in there to snap a picture of how the hose was laying to verify all was good.

Would there be any issues if your car was up on wheel ramps?

I don't expect there would be any. There would be somewhat less clearance between the body and the axle pumpkin to move the tank into place, but there is still a lot of room up there.

I'm surprised they didn't use a couple of slots for the mounting points instead of holes. Looks good though.

Surprise! Someone DOES make a kit.

You can purchase them from http://shop.bobsautosports.com/Musta...-reservoir.htm
So if you use the axel reservoir,do you still need the basters?

The way I understand it Rocketman is it replaces the baster and uses the same hole as baster.

Because the "turkey baster" is a Ford TSB, can this be installed at the ford dealer at no cost to us?

I might want to combine this with getting my track key and taking care of that TSB for the crank sensor re-learn. My car hasnt thrown a code yet for the misfire, but I figured I would want it done before the track event.

Ford says the 12's do not have the problem so we are not covered under the TSB. I had to buy my own but I tell you it does not help. The only way I found to solve the venting problem is a 302S style vented canster mounted in the trunk.
