Be very careful. They might pull the old bait and switch move. My insurance company quoted me a 6 month policy for 483.00 and when it was time to renew the policy the price had jumped to 870.00 for 6 months. When I called for an explanation, they told me that my car was SO new that there wasn't a correct value in the national database, so 6 months later the correct number was in and BOOM!!! doubled policy.
The other thing that does happen a lot is that many companies have gone to underwriting after the fact. They wil write a policy based on the car, the age and sex of the driver and the zip code. Then after the policy is issued, sometimes the next month or sometimes at renewal, they will pull the driving record and the credit history and then complete the underwriting. This can lead to a large change in your rate.

You gotta remember what variables there are in getting insurance. Like deductibles, coverages, liability, etc. That can completely change what you pay. I am paying what my wife and I pay for her Passat and my MINI JCW for the Boss alone, but I know my record is great and I've been very happy with USAA.

It's rated the same as the Shelby, which puts it in a higher rating category. If it's the only vehicle on the policy, then yes your rates would be much higher than normal. Pair it with a normal vehicle on the same policy and the Boss can get better or "preferred" rates. My 11' GT is $160 less per 6 months than a Boss if that gives you a good idea. Just be careful of brokering out your rate, make sure it's a reputable company. You don't want your $50k car insured with a no name place.
The guy lookin for me is very reputable and he's looking for one place for all my stuff.
I'll post what turns up...

Here is a question for you guys that track your cars either regularly or semi regularly.
Does your Insurance cover it if you wad it up on the track? Or are you totally SOL???
Case in point...
This 70K Z06 Vette got wadded up at Watkins Glen NY early this month on the back stretch, I wondered if his insurance will cover it? I'm thinking he is probably SOL.
At least the guy didn't get hurt, but it is just a Vette.
Do the companies offer insurance for those of you may do it once and awhile?

Typical insurance will not cover any tracking, despite what track organizations may try to tell you. You can purchase track insurance from a few independent companies, however.

I've looked at Heacock and I intend to move some of the cars over to them, but my biggest hang up on the collector type car insurance is that Heacock wouldn't let me drive my car to work. I don't do it very often but if it's a beautiful Friday I love driving the '07 to work. Even the '91.

I was talking to a guy today with an old Camaro, Roadrunner, and El Camino. He said he insures them through Country Companies for $70 each per 6 months. He had to have them appraised first but said it wasn't a hassle. Maybe you guys might want to check that out. Sounds like a great price and from speaking to him he was quite satisfied with them.
