I totally blame cloud9
I've been calling every 8 hours to track my railcar. Wake up, call. Midday, call. Going to sleep, call.
Thanks, cloud9
To pass the time I calculate avg MPH between locations.
Sometimes it sits
Other times it chugs along
After 3 days of movement, it's halfway here

Any day now....Saturday at the latest. Already ordered new helmet, fire extinguisher and mount, tranny scoop, and brake ducts. I'm a little concerned about what's required to install the ducts.

Dave, I have the brake duct kit. The written instructions are clear, but the pics that come with it are really dark and useless. Looks to me like we remove the lower front fascia to get at the cutouts. We need a 2 3/4 inch hole saw to cut out the panel on each side. Other than that, looks pretty straightforward.

I think you might have a little problem there. OCD can be very destructive to a person's life.

Do we have to remove tires and/or rotors to install new backing plate? I have a 4 post lift and was hoping to install them without jacking the car up while on the lift.

Yes, that's what the instructions call for. Including removing the rotors from what I recall.
I have a lift as well but plan on simply putting the front end on jackstands.

If you have a thin, ratcheting 10mm box-end wrench, you can get the backing plates off without removing the rotor.

We should probably start a brake duct cooling kit install thread. There will many folks wanting to install them with a wide range of expertise. Maybe someone that has already tackled the problem can get it started.

Here's my experience on the kit. Maybe it will be easier/less cutting for you, but this is what we did. My dealer had just installed the same kit on his '11 GT the night before so learned from his experience. We didn't remove the whole front fascia, just the fog lamp inserts.

Picked up my car. Busy. It's 30 degrees with a light snow. Broke it in hard (clarification - per Ford's instruction - didn't hold the RPMs and varied speeds). I'll post more later. Initial reaction:

Congrats again Gary!!''So with your limited time with the car ...what;s your opinion on the factory exhaust sound?? Would you agree it needs some more rumble out back to match the uncorked sidepipes??

Well first off, I haven't had an opportunity to hear the exhaust from outside the car while it's moving so somewhat hard to judge. I can see your point about it being too quiet from the back. I'm just not sure what the best solution is if you want it louder. You could put on different axle backs, or you could go off-road X. However, if you go offroad X the side pipes will be too loud and you'd want the discs back in probably, but maybe drilled out some more. I'll wait for you to figure it out and copy it!
