I bought it at Sanderson Ford. They were very nice, accommodating, and made the experience short and painless.

Wow. This is a good policy and one I will request on new cars from here on out. It's truly terrifying, especially when many roads have poor shoulders and construction work.
I might do a few but we will see. I want to just drive the car for now.

Had exactly the same thing happen to me on a 1995 Cobra R while on the way home from taking delivery. Kinda freaks you out to have you car just shut down, particularly if you are on a busy interstate as I was. Have checked electrical connections on every new car I have bought since then. Dealership is checking them on my Boss before I pick it up today.
Great trip, despite the ground issue. I couldn't even imagine buying that car, then having it go up in flames on the way home!

I've driven from Prescott, AZ to Pittsburgh, PA a couple times due to college. Great trip and some of those pics looked pretty familiar!

I purchased a brand new full-size Ford Bronco in 1986 and on the way home from the dealership (~5 miles away), the Bronco sputtered and died. We got out and gasoline was streaming down and over a very hot catalytic converter... and steaming/evaporating as it did so. We stood by the side of the road waiting for it to go up in flames but it never caught fire. After it cooled a bit, I crawled underneath and found the source of the leak. It was simply a fuel line that wasn't fully clicked into place. Practically when I touched it, it pushed up and clicked and the Bronco lived a long and happy life (and so have I). A month later we received a recall notice for an errant fuel line. Better late than never!
