I couldn't wait any longer and ended up buying LS #234
...In Phoenix and driving across the country back to Delaware. The first day was largely uneventful, driving through the beautiful hills leading to Flagstaff and through Albuquerque into Amarillo.
The second day was a bit more eventful as the car managed to lose ALL POWER for 4 seconds while driving before firing back to life while driving through OKC. All lights, stereo, A/C and the motor all shut down completely. I was scared as was my fiancee but we carried on only to have the car do the same thing 4 more times, each time after hitting a large bump, before we decided to find a dealership in Tulsa. After pulling into the dealership, the car died completely (talk about lucky!) and would not start and had no power.
The dealership tested the battery and said it failed as it had a bad cell. It was replaced and we carried on.
We ended up going through St. Louis, through Kentucky and visited a friend in West Virginia. We spent the last day driving through Maryland and back to Delaware.
Anyway, after 2400 miles, I took it for a spin today and it hit a few bumps and the gauges sweeped. I thought little of it until the same symptoms of before came back. I took my step-father out for a spin on a local backroad only to have the car lose all power for a few seconds before firing back to life.
I quickly drove it back home where I decided to choose caution and have the car towed to the dealership.
The car is amazing when it's running. Power everywhere, amazing steering feel, great sound, grip, and really I couldn't ask for anything more out of a performance car. I am however concerned as this is my first domestic in over a decade and it has nearly stranded me twice in 4 days of ownership (albeit 4 extraordinary days).
I'm hoping the dealership will find a loose connection or ground somewhere and it will be an easy fix. I know these things do happen but I am certainly worried even if this is an isolated incident.
Sorry for the lukewarm purchase thread. My road trip was fun for the first day but was really riddled with worry for the second half and apparently my worry was warranted.
I'll keep you all posted.

It certainly was an interesting experience. I had never done it before and I probably won't do it again but I'm glad to say I've done it, especially in a 444 horsepower car with no rear seats and R compound tires.

The civility displayed by the Boss crowd in dealing with issues thus far is nothing less than exceptional.
I hope Ford recognizes that fact and is, or is planning to find solutions sooner than later. As proud and vocal as Ford reps have been when introducing and advertising the Boss, now is the time for action and to keep the Boss owners informed.

Wow, sorry for the bad experience you had the second half of your drive back. Glad your first day went so well!! I am sure your local dealer will get you straight and you'll be back having a blast in these amazing cars...
Good luck!!
Good luck!!
Thanks everyone for the kind words.
Since I received a PM, I thought I'd let everyone know that the car is firm but very comfortable on the highway and Ford did an excellent job tuning the exhaust note where it's quiet at cruising speed and mean when under throttle. The car is every bit as comfortable as my 335d on the highway save for a few errant rattles to remind you you're driving a Mustang.

Got the car back this morning. It had a loose ground wire in the passenger fender well that was causing all the electronics to start.
The service adviser told me that he wasn't sure how the car made it home and was surprised that it didn't catch fire either. I'm not a religious person but I feel very, very fortunate.

Great trip, despite the ground issue. I couldn't even imagine buying that car, then having it go up in flames on the way home!
I'd say you were very lucky!
I've driven from Prescott, AZ to Pittsburgh, PA a couple times due to college. Great trip and some of those pics looked pretty familiar!
Enjoy the car! Will you be doing any track days with it?

Very true, congrats on the Boss! I hope they find the problem, maybe something simple like you said. I am sure they will.
