Hood vents for 2012

I know the 2013 Bosses have hood vents, and I don't have the budget for TR Hood, I was researching to ADD hood vents to my OEM hood.
...under the hood heat is bad at the track, and here in Texas we specialize in HEAT

I saw these I liked (long and thin LIKE the 2013's)

Any one try these on other cars?

Any comments?

Interesting. Curious as to what people have to say about them

What were you thinking, mount them parallel to the power dome on the hood?

yes, similar to the location as seen on the 2013 hoods

I think it would look pretty nice, if you do decide to install them do a write-up and review of results because i would definitely like a lil newer styling on the whip

I don't see any 'under hood' moulding or accessories to direct water away from pouring on engine.

You can buy the 2013 hood louvers seperately from your Ford dealer. They will run you about $150 a piece. More money than the aluminum louvers but nicer IMO.

The only trouble is mounting them. The hood on the 2013 is recessed for the hood lovers which the 2012 hood is not and like Charlie said you still wouldn't have any water troughs to divert water from the engine

I need to see/take pictures of the 2013 hood vents

Are there any notes in the 2013 Mustang owners manual about the hood vents and rain?

BTW, my Boss is in the garage during the nite so low chance of evening rain getting onto the motor
I need to see these vents up close for rain

Jerry,.... I would wait and save up for the Tiger hood if I where you,... yah they may help a little venting some heat but no where near the Tiger hood in my opinion.....plus ur putting two gapping holes in the original hood, and if you have someone else install them the labor cost could be used towards the price of the tiger hood.

I wash my engine bay all the time and never have an issue with water on or in the engine. And I use a power washer!

While adding vents will help dissipate the heat under the hood I don't think they will help with the overheating issue. I also looked at adding vents to my hood but I don't think there's an easy way to add them that still looks OEM. Best bet is to save up for an aftermarket hood and there are a couple of less expensive options other than the 302S hood. Here are photos I took of the new vents.

Agreed.
By the time you find a body shop that will to cut, fabricate, fill, smooth, sand prep, and paint you'll be talking some big bucks. Plus, if they screw it up, you're out a stock hood for your car.

If you need the extra cooling for the track, save up your money and go for the tiger racing fiberglass version. The finish is very good as is. You could just be hard core and leave it unpainted and run it as is.

It's an easy swap with an extra set of hands if you need to go back to the stock hood as a daily driver or car show.

Are the openings on the 2013 hood only about 1/4 of what apears on the top of the hood? The openings look to be off to the side only??

The vents are fully open but the material under the hood covers a lot of it. You can easily cut it out if you're having overheating problems but I don't think it's going to help much.
