Gonna be buying an SCT Tuner very soon, need help

I'm going to buy an SCT Xcal 3 tuner very soon, and for right now, just the tuner and tunes itself, no CAI, LT's or anything. The reason for that is, While the Boss is being shipped to Germany, I want to be able to limit the MPH's and the RPM's so no one can go on a full out joy ride with my baby while its in shipping. Call me paranoid, but I just don't trust many people with my car.

My question is, who should I go through? And will I get any noticable gains going from a stock setup and stock tune to a stock set up aftermarket tune?

I was thinking American Muscle, since they bought Bama Tunes, and Bama tuned my 07 GT and I had 0 issues. But I also am curious with the Steeda tunes for the Boss. Does BBR have tunes for the Boss? I also had their race tune and it was FUN in the 07!

What are your thoughts guys?

You just gave me a perfect excuse to buy a tuner and possibly a CAI Wish I could justify a full exhaust upgrade, of course the shipping is actually cheaper to here

cant you do this with the key? or is that not available on the boss. I was able to do a valet mode with my 2011 GT. Look here. I might have just saved you 379 dollars

All of the tuning companies mentioned will have tuning solutions for you and I'm sure you would be happy with any one of them.

Mustangfreak,

I definitely understand your concern with people driving it when you're shipping it all the way to Germany. That's one of the great benefits to a Custom Tuner, we can definitely put a speed limiter and RPM limiter on your Stang for you!

Since you've already had our tune you understand how the process works! On the 11+ GT's/Boss Bone Stock we're seeing gains of about 25-30+ RWHP and 30-35+ RWTQ. You'll love the new found power, torque, acceleration, drive ability, gas mileage and much more! (Even on a Stock 5.0)

I hope this helps. Definitely let me know if I can be of any assistance! Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

-Dan

You could always just hand them the red key and activate the pit lane speed limiter. LOL

Can't you just program your spare key as a valet key and give them that? Or does the BOSS not have that for some reason.

For those that are unfamiliar look up Ford MyKey...

That wont limit the RPM's though. I want the XCal to limit the rpm's to say 3500, and mph to 55. And if I can force traction control to stay on that would be even better.

I want it, but I don't know if I should spend the extra $90 right now.

But knowing me, I'll probably do it anyways lol.

55?!?! You're too generous, brother. I'd limit it to 30mph max. No reason those guys should have to drive faster than that, most of it is parking lot driving anyway. When I was shipping for them, I think they were authorized up to 7 miles (possibly 10?) from start to finish. I seem to remember the greatest chunk of that being getting the cars off the boat in Bremerhaven and taking them to the processing center to be loaded on the trucks.

But I'm glad you asked this question, as it's on my mind now, as well... Nice to see so many options on the market.

I will wait until it's closer to Spring since she is taking a long winter's nap anyway. Might have to invest in an iPad mini too, lol.

I was thinking 15mph, lol. When I picked the Boss up in Bremerhaven the guy came racing around in it. Might have been upset if I wasn't so excited to pick her up.

IIRC, my SCT XCal3 wouldnt let me lower it any further past 55. So, thats not my choice, if it were, yeah, 15mph.

I love my ITSX .... Dez sets which things are adjustable for me in the tune ..... I Probaly play with more than I should .... Timing ... Soft and hard rev limiters
Are adjustable ..... I can basically mimic the red keys launch control just by flashing a new tune to change my launch Rpm ......works well.... Sounds. A bit different ... The red key holds the throttle body position .... The soft rev limiter ...pulls the spark out and sounds much more agressive ..... And it lets me go over 5k for the limiter .....

The data log stuff works well also and is simple to use. .... And you can send stuff to your tuner from the logs very simple .... I used this after getting tuned for a dry nitrous shot to send the data from the car from a pass down the quarter mile .....
