Gizmo Thread

This thread is intended for those of us who want to discuss tinkering with audio, nav, and other goodies for our Bosses without the lectures from the bare-bonesians.

I like a gps unit when I drive in unfamiliar places. I use the MotionX GPS App on my iPhone, which is far superior to all of the OEM systems I have owned. I ordered the ProClip mounting hardware for my iPhone 4.

I don't know if you consider this a gizmo, but I am going to swap in some HID's from a GT, I am sure I can find some from a salvage yard for a decent price. Should be plug and play

I'll use GPS on my iP4 and might try the one Dave is using.

As for the car itself I'll be replacing the stock coaxial speakers for something else immediately. Budget will be $200-400.

I have several BT headsets and speakerphones and am currently using a Motorola TZ700 speakerphone in my HRC Odyssey. When it works properly it's very good but it's buggy and I'm having an issue with the battery.

The one gadget I'm going to remove is the intake tube into the cabin. Main reason is it clutters up the engine compartment and will shave about 5 pounds off of the car. I'm more interested in hearing quad surround sound over mono.

I'm not familiar with the intake tube. What is it's function?

There is a sound induction tube that runs from the intake tube through the firewall to allow for intake sound to be heard inside the car. Here is a link with more info:

To hear the intake in the interior at WOT. It's the tube coming off of the intake tube between the filter and manifold.

Just ordered another Aeroforce Interceptor Gauge this morning and picked up velcro for my GPS Time Tronic Lap Timer for the Boss.

How difficult was the Aeroforce interceptor installation? Also, did you hook up an oil / fuel pressure sensor? Since the base Boss has only idiot lights, I was looking at the interceptor.

Thanks!

Unbelievably easy to install. There are instructions with the vent pod on how to remove the factory vanes. Then you simply fish the cord up under the dash to the vent opening, plug into the back side of the gauge, then snap the vent pod into the opening where you removed the factory vanes. Finally plug the other end into the OBDII port and zip tie the excess under the dash.

I did not hook up an oil pressure sensor on the GT500. I mostly use it to watch IAT2 and ECT. It does read fuel pressure from the factory sensor so you wouldn't have to add that. I may choose to order an oil pressure sensor if necessary on the Boss. I will wait and see what additional factory sensors Ford put on it first. For one, I know the '11+ Mustangs have widebands so you can pick up A/F without adding a sensor, unlike on my '07 GT500.

I got a response email from a Scoshe rep yesterday that the dash kit should be availble at the end of April. Pretty excited about that.

I just saw a post from someone that bought a crate Boss engine, and it includes an oil pressure sensor. That makes sense though since the Laguna Seca gauge pack orderable for the Boss doesn't come with a separate oil pressure sensor, and one of the gauges is oil pressure. So the Aeroforce gauge should read oil pressure from the stock sensor.

Thanks for the update! I'm going to order one soon. Heck of a deal compared to the LS gauge pack, plus no drilling the dash!
