I think it's been available for awhile. The sterling gray 2013 brace is also available along with the seat delete kit. I've been thinking of buying the set and storing them for use when my kids no longer fit in the back seat.

Today is the first day it has been in the FRPP catalog. It has been listed at Ford Parts individually for some time though.

Is that the whole kit including the rear seat delete? My previous links showed two separate items. The links are no longer working but the one below is. That's a lot cheaper than they were too. Now if you can get it in sterling gray I'm ordering now at that price.

I believe it is the whole kit - complete, but in red only.

That's what it looks like. I'll try and call Ford Racing tomorrow and confirm.

What is the weight savings of this kit?

Also is this kit removable so as to put the rear seats back in later on?

Most importantly, it's a great complementary piece for our roll bar kit!! LOL!

I called and it appears it's a complete kit. Because it was just released they don't have the install instructions available yet but they should be up in the next week. I'd wait to see the instructions but the rep is 99.9% sure it's the complete kit.

That's exactly what Mike from Buyfordracing told me. He's confirming everything and as soon as I hear from him I'll post up.

It just makes sense for FRPP to offer a rear seat delete kit for the Mustang GT. Boss 302 owners can now make their Boss 302 look more like an LS. I would think the GT500 owners might be in the market for the kit also.

Nice but $1600 for an X-bar and carpet? Yah ok.

My reaction as well. The most substantial thing is that bar and how does that cost even $1000?

I think a few other companies are taking stabs at this product as well (steeda and cdc come to mind), but I need to see demonstrated results to warrant anything more than say $400 for what looks to be a very premium rear seat delete kit*.

* I know that it helps a LS car with chassis stiffness, however, does it help as much as $1600 spent elsewhere, like say with cooltech's parts, etc.

Would removing the entire rear seat, then replace with X Brace and its additional parts actually add weight over a standard Boss with a rear seat?

This OEM LS RSD kit will weigh a few pounds less than a rear-seat equipped car. The cross brace itself, while it may look like SCCA-spec roll bar tubing, is actually thin-wall, very lightweight tubing. The two finish panels, although large are carpet over fiberglass and they are light as well.

The cross brace adds shear strength to the normally open area where the seat backs are. Think of the way a sheet a plywood is added to the upright studs of a house during construction. The cross-brace serves the same purpose - but accomplishes this mission with a very light structure.

I think a few other companies are taking stabs at this product as well (steeda and cdc come to mind)
Yes, Steeda just announced their cross brace but to install it really needs these LS panels to install and be "aesthetically correct". I suspect the two LS panels from Ford will cost more than the same panels + cross brace from Ford Racing as we see in this new kit. I suspect that a little birdie may have alerted CDC to the fact that FR was coming out with this kit and their efforts may now be sidelined.

Other companies are welcome to sell alternatives. But the rules that we compete under require OEM parts - so the Ford parts are what we will end up buying.

I ordered the kit last night from Buyfordracing. We shall see how well the kit will fit my '09 GT500.

FRPP released an instruction sheet last night. Some interesting photos therein...

It's $935 at the site linked above (Levittown Ford site).

Good enough for me.
