I picked up the box today. Some really nice hardware in this kit.

I'm very interested to hear if this makes a noticeable change.

Noticeable, sure no back seat, that will be noticeable right away.lol. As for stiffness, im sure it helps but seat of pants I doubt.

I agree. The LSes are capable of putting down slightly faster lap times but I attribute 99% of that to the sticker tires.

You motivated me to clean the dust off, fire up the beast, and see if I noticed any changes after pulling the seats/hardware and adding the FRPP/Boss LS 'X' brace.

Last night was a bit on the cool side. My 725hp WhippleMonster was definitely feeling its oats and with ever cooling tarmac, the words 'traction limited' come to mind. But I was able to focus and pay attention (however unscientific) to what was going on behind me.

To start, and I've been asked this elsewhere, there is a minor decibal increase in rear exhaust noise. I'm running unattenuated Boss sidepipes as well as FRPP KR mufflers out back. I noticed no change at idle or mild cruise. At full throttle, I thought I could sense some additional sound being passed through the lightweight LS panles that took the place of the insulated seats. To be clear, the change was barely audible. I had to close the windows (it sounded the same with them open) and turn the radio off in order to be able to notice any change at all. The increase isn't obtrusive in the least.

I also tried to focus attention towards the large LS panel that now covers the floor. I surmised that I may detect an increase in road noise. I detected nothing. No new or different suspension noises (and I have rod ended LCA's - Teflon lined and quiet). No axle whine, stone 'tinking', driveshaft hum, or expansion joint thudding. To my ear, there was no increase in road noise.

Lastly, regarding the purported (up to) 10% increase in rigidity...my buttockmeter was unable to detect any torsional increase. I cannot attest to the increase under normal driving circumstances. Were I spending days on end at various tracks across the country in this car, I might be in a better position to offer some exacting feedback. Suffice it to say, I trust the number that the good people at Ford Motor Company have provided regarding an increase in torsional rigidity when adding this brace to an S197 chassis. That's good enough for me, knowing that the development people spent quite a bit of time refining these specific parts.

In closing, this part from FRPP has given me what I wanted in my car (albeit a GT500) from day one. I never wanted the rear seats and longed for a factory rear seat delete. The never used, supple leather seats, now reside in a temperature controlled closet in a bedroom on the second floor of my house. In their place are two 'space age' panels. They are extremely light in weight and highly durable. They easily handle my 215lb frame kneeling/laying/climbing on them when attempting to clean the rear windows. The X brace itself is without flaw. Painted to perfection, it fit the existing in-chassis fastener locations with precision. The included hardware was top notch as well.

Were I a Boss owner, I'd be shopping for the best price and adding this one ASAP. It is that good.

Yes, you have accidentally purchased the wrong vehicle. You are clearly looking for the Toyota Corolla forum.
