First mod of this type...crazy #$@ shift ball
these are about $30 each from EPCO (I also got a blue / black marble swirl one)...
the way it comes from EPCO, it sits a fair amount lower than the stock unit, and it's slightly larger (I believe 2 1/8" vs 2")...and that sure makes more of a difference than I would have thought. Haven't driven with it yet...just mounted / took pictures / posted (as I know we all love pics).
just thought I'd try something a little different / funky.

I'd guess the breakage rate is like 60-70% for stock ***** getting them off the first time. (Thanks Ford!)

Step 1: Get some aluminum foil and wrap it around the boot for protection. Step 2 apply heat with a HEAT GUN (a hair dryer might work but I don't know if it would get hot enough) to the base of the **** for 5 minutes or so. Step 3: Use a plastic strap wrench if you can't get leverage (if its a pool ball type you'll most likely need a strap wrench) Step 4: bingo!!

That does NOT work every time. I had a strap wrench on mine and was cranking on it with a pry bar for extra leverage and it wouldn't come off. I'm glad to hear not all of us got ****ed over though!
I like that ****. I was thinking of ordering exactly that after looking over their site so it's nice to see a real image. What size **** is that?

you were using the same exact wrench? the nylon strap kind or its brother the blue one dont work so well.
Not sure on its size MGW told me it was 2 1/8" but I order a white version of that **** same size and its smaller.

i have the strap wrench but the blue one not the red one. ive cranked on it so much that the rubber strap is about to snap apart from where the "teeth" sink into the rubber part....
i guess i got the shifter k n o b that they added extra loctite too....figures...i was thinking about taking the blue one back and seeing if they would exchange for the red one...

the usually come in a kit with both the red and blue one. I have used the red one to hold the crank pulley still on my old 06 while I hand tightened the bolt.....it grips well
