You forgot my mom and dad bought me a $60K+ car...I'm shocked on how many on the forums are still in college or just out of high school.

Really, people other than me BUY these? I always figured I was the only one not leasing his Bimmers.

Dave

I have driven one. We have a BMW store in our group

Great car with a flat (albeit low) tq curve. Power is but a downshift away.

"Lazy gear" just means you need to downshift

So even if performance can be considered "equal" in an overall sense, the M3 gives you a far higher level of refinement, style, and class in all aspects of its design and engineering
You can't win with these people

Yeah this pretty much happens with all brands. I used to get a lot of crap when I owned Porsche 911's. Shoot the GT500 guys think us Boss owners are pretty snooty.

335 N54 fuel pumps are lol

I hear that was corrected though. M3 obviously does not have that issue.

No. The M3 issue was a harsh ride in the street, too harsh for my commute into Toronto and over street car tracks resulting in a suspension fix and blown tires and buckled rims. Probably would have been worse than the 335 but I was quick to trade down. And the was an electronic gremlin that service fixed several times but actually instead seemed to chase around the car. Was a bit of humour there actually.

First day I drove the Boss in the city my expectation was more tire and rim issues along with a hash ride. This is how the car first impressed me. Better ride even with SRA, and an ability to shrug off road impacts guaranteed to drop the BMWs (all except my first 325 sedan) to their knees. After a drive to Montreal all (where initially the BWM seemed the better choice) and back via Mosport I was now a reborn Ford man. It would only get better.

Which generation of the M3 did you have? My 2010 rode great with the electronic dampener control set to comfort. I had an IS-F prior to the M3 and one of the things I liked better about the Bimmer was the ride.

That plus the Boss 302 ran 2 plus seconds faster than an M3 at Laguna Seca means that this doesn't add up to me.

It was corrected...and yes the M3 doesn't have this issue.

He would definitely hate a 997S then. My 997S with the PASM in normal was stiffer than the ZCP car in full sport. Those huge rear gumball tires at 42lbs cold was just brutal. I do miss the 997 though...
I feel the M3s ride in comfort mode is really very "BMW" like, kind of a 328i with sport package.

This Must be the same article my Brother read. He has a 2011 M3 and I have the 2012 Boss. He insisted on going to the track for some 1/4 mile action. Hey, he's my brother, so I went.

Not having read the article myself. I was unaware the M3 was faster than the Boss.

After a few runs nothing changed. The M3 was Not faster than the boss.

The Boss ran 12.90's and the M3 13.40's.

As mentioned by others on this thread. The brits which drove the Boss must be confused by the "Third Pedal" and that whole moving of the lever thing. Awfully slow 1/4 mile times on the other side of the Pond.

Oh well.

I miss my 997 as well. I actually thought the Porsche rode pretty good, but that was probably because I traded out of a GT-R into the Porsche. I love the GT-R, but a smooth ride is not one of its strong points.

Don't know the capabilities of the driver of the M3..but M3s have hitten mid 12s stock in the 1/4 mile. Road and Track ran a 12.5 @114.8mph in a 08 M3 6MT, while Car and Driver ran a 12.4@114.8 as well with a DCT car. I ran a 13.16 in a older E46 M3 that was completely bone stock.

That all being said I feel a properly driven Boss will probably edge out a M3 6MT, a DCT car maybe not.

Here is Drew running a 11.88 @118mph, parts on the car was a xpipe, underdrive pulley, cat back kit (0hp) and a GIAC tune along with a VFE airfilter.

Did you have an S with PASM? The non PASM car with 18s rode much better.

It was an '09 C2S with PASM and the standard S 19" rims. My car was certainly no boulevard cruiser, but compared to the GT-R it rode pretty well.

That's Evan Smith driving a stock Boss with slicks. The Boss is ligher than an E9X M3 and has more power, so I believe apples to apples in terms of driver the Boss has a bit of an edge with either M3 transmissions.

I wonder what it would run with just a D/R, also the M3 trapped 1mph higher. The Boss is not lighter than the M3...M3s come right in under 3600lbs, pretty much what the Boss is. My E92 M3 with a moonroof weighed in at 3586lbs.

Also Evan Smith is the man when it comes to driving. The video of the E92 M3 is my buddy Drew, who is a pretty good hotshoe himself. Although with a DCT tranny that removes a lot of the skill out of it.

Dave

Well I guess it makes sense..the GTR weighs almost 2 tons, probably needs to ride like a cement truck to handle the way it does.
