I still don't see a lot of 5.0s in Los Angeles...3 series BMWs can't throw a rock without hitting one. Whenever I see a nice V6 or 5.0L I always give them a thumbs up.

I really do belive after my E92 M3 (if I don't keep it), I am into the next Mustang. I really think Ford is going to tear it up with the next redesign.

I've been down in the Westwood area a lot lately and I don't see many 5.0's either. I do see a lot of V6 vert rental cars though. I probably see more Panamera's than 5.0's.

I, too, had an M3. It was a 2010 E90 with the M-DCT transmission. The M3 was certainly a better daily driver and had a lot more toys, but you are right that it isn't any more fun to drive. The BMW actually feels a bit pedestrian at lower revs because of the lack of torque.

I'm not really concerned about the M3 or what people on their forums say. I don't like BMW's. I don't have anything against the car, they just don't do anything for me. I really couldn't tell you anything about their cars, that's how little interest I have. I LOVE Mustangs, so that's what I choose to own.

Its not really a lack of torque, there isn't a lazy gear in the M3..its just the midrange and top end are so strong that it minimizes any lowend it does have. How is M3.post treating you over there Cabinetman?

It's the latest issue and I picked it up off the rack at Barnes & Noble. Also, as a sign of respect, all the cars in the comparo are pictured, but featured up front is the Veyron and the Boss (and the Stig, of course).

Oh, here is the cover:

Right!! I'm shocked on how many Panameras I see. First year you didn't see any of them...now they are everywhere. Not just the regular ones either but the Panamera Turbos.

Nothing on Ebay or Amazon yet, somehow I doubt my B & N will have a copy, but I'll go check.

I wonder how much a DCT would improve the Boss times? Probably a lot for the Euro's who have forgotten how to shift a manual tranny.

I usually lay low over there these days. I did post a brief comparison of my Boss to the M3. I love M3 and would be driving one today if it was the same price as the Boss. As it stands, I'm very happy with the Ford. I think it was the best choice for me considering my current budget constraints.

Just to be included with those other cars makes the Boss a winner.

I race BMW's, the wife and I each have one for daily drivers, but what makes the Boss special and appeal to me is the thrust and sounds from a Ford V-8 engine that revs effortlessly to 7500 which is wrapped by a very capable Mustang chassis. It is a remarkable car for its price, you get more than you paid for in performance, a bit less in amenities and materials quality.

Lastly, I sold my pride and joy E46 M3 convertible to get the Boss, and I thought I would miss it a lot more than I do.

Side note: The E9X is the 4th generation of M3's, the F30 will be #5.

Dave
I still have the 335i Coupe as no one wants to buy it because of the known issues on that one. But it, the M3, the 330ci Cabriolet and the 325 Sedan before it all had issues of some sort. Easily damaged rims, leaking roof, electrical gremlins, weak run flat tires, unexplained limp modes. When they run, they are brilliant. But the overall ownership experience eventually wore on me enough I knew I was done. Heck if I'm honest my old classic BMW, while very cool in it's own right wasn't perfect with oil and seal issues.

Probably true. Its the price and attitude of other owners about the car and non-owners toward the car that made what may have been tolerable vices eventually irritate me enough to leave the marque. I have also met a lot more truly interesting people since buying the Mustang than I ever did through the Bimmers or those forums. And I have happily converted 2 other BMW lovers and a Corvette nut over the the fun and friendly world of the Mustang and will continue to do so. Has my Mustang been flawless, no?! But it runs at the edge of what you think is possible from such a simple car compared to the BMWs which always felt as if they could give you more if you'd spend more no matter which model you were in. Then ironically it would have an issue and the fun would be over, very, very frustrating. No more thanks.

This can be said almost of any marque, if I had a dime everytime I was told to take my "eurotrash" out of here I would have paid off the car. However, you do find more down to earth people who own a Mustang vs. a highe end Marque ala Porsche, BMW, etc. I bought the M3 because its a normally aspirated wet dream for us who want to stay normally aspirated.

I have owned numerous BMWs as of 2001 and they pretty much all have been flawless. There was a JD Power associates report on sport cars and the M3 was on the top of the list (E9X) as well as the S197 Mustang. I have to say, one of the reason I got into BMWs (see my list of past Mustangs) was that my 98 Mustang Cobra was turning out to be a POS just after 3 years. Ford was apathetic on fixing it right that I bailed into a new back then 2001 M3 and really never looked back. Its only recently with the 2011 Mustang GT that I really am interested to get back into a Mustang and I believe the 2015 Mustang will go along way to righting the wrongs of the current Stang.

BTW, did you have any issues with your HPFP in your 335i? If I ever got one I would have leased, 3 and flee.
Dave

3 times in on HPFP issues. It's rim//tire issues that finally did me in.

Aside from down to earth, I'd also add every income bracket from dirt poor to filthy rich. Whereas the Bimmer crowd tends to be well off, or faking it.

Thats OK, you need to drive one...it doesn't have one lazy gear in the car. The times also speak for themselves. Do they have the low end of the 5.0L? No they don't, but the engines in the M3 don't feel lazy at all. Also note on how flat that torque curve is..
