Thanks for the heads-up. I don't think TracKey falls into that mess.

A lot of ground being covered in the suit...

"Eagle Harbor claims that Ford has used and continues to use the companies' patented technology in multiple vehicle systems, including SYNC, Active Park Assist, Blind-Spot Identification System with Cross Traffic Alert, Integrated Control System for Stability Control and MyKey."

...I don't see the suit as even a speed bump for the Trackey

The technology use to make MYkey work is the same technology that makes track work . You set the top speed of the car how loud the music will play in the car thnigs like this with MYkey . That were they got idea for track key. I think will just have to wait to see how it plays out.

The article said If they prevail, damages could be in the millions. Millions fall off the table at Ford daily! The My key and Sync have been deployed and are successful, so, they are not going to stop using them. After many MANY years of litigation, they MAY end up writhing a check, but not before the lawyers makes millions. I can't see how this will slow (even mnore) the Trackey in any way!
But, thanks for the nugget to chew on while we all wait for our TRACKEY

Anyone know if this is the work of a patent troll or a sincere infringement?

I don't see any legal impediments here, and there's no court-ordered injunction to "cease and desist manufacturing", so to speak, so no real impact here. I'll have my Trackkey now please

These kinds of things happen all the time. For instance, someone sued over the MyColor thing in '05, saying that Ford stole their idea/product and that still exists.

The key is just a key, we all should have one. It's the programming that makes it the Trackey.

FWIW, I ran into a guy this weekend at a car show who just took delivery of his Boss 2 weeks ago. He's very involved in the Mustang clubs here in the northwest and told me not to believe everything we're hearing about the track key. He said that our local dealership, Riverside Ford, Sumner, WA activated his trackkey - it took about an hour to download the software. I don't know this person, but I told him I have a Boss on order and the Mustang community is small, so there's a 100% chance I will see him again. The dealership does have a good reputation and I'm not sure why he would lie to me since it would be easy to verify. Maybe the dealerships have the software but are being told not to sell it yet due to the issues?

Point is, just because there's a lawsuit over something, doesn't mean it may go away. I mean, the lawsuit involves SYNC, too, and no one is suggesting that SYNC will be unavailable soon.

Agreed. I think he and/or the dealership may be mistaken. This isn't something that is going to trickle out. Does his car have the lopey idle?? The test to insure that in fact the key is invoking an alternate program.
