That's just weird. Where are you getting your production date from? Yes, a good dealer will know when a particular vehicle should be built by figuring out how many orders he'll be placing and knowing how many vehicles Ford is building for him, but it's not definite until the build week gets assigned. And that's not definite until AFTER the VIN gets assigned. And even then it's not 100% definite, until it's actually built.

Here's the order things happen from the dealer side of things:

Dealer tells Ford how many orders he'd like to have "pulled" next month
Ford tells dealer how many they'll pull from his 'bank' of orders each week (i.e. Order Bank)
Dealer enters his orders into the Order Bank (if he hasn't put them in there prior to this)
Dealer places a priority on each order to indicate which week he'd like each one pulled. (10 is the highest the dealer can assign)
Every Friday Ford tells the dealer which of his orders were pulled that week via the 'Daily Status Report' (the process actually starts on Wednesday night)
This report is when the dealer first gets the VIN.
On Monday the report shows the build week not date. You probably won't know your actual build date until AFTER the car's actually built.

Then there are a few more steps on the plant side of things, such as
Submitted To Plant
Scheduled
Produced
Released From Plant
Convoy
Rail Car
Convoy
and finally... DELIVERED!

I'm sure I missed a few things as it's been a few years since I ordered my own car, but I order new trucks every week so I at least know the info is up to date.

Correction, I have a week not a date. I took Vito's advice and PM'd Customer Service with my order number and dealer.

Who exactly did you contact? I've been trying to find out what quarter my boss will be built in and my dealer can't seem to find out. Keeps telling me, he should find out soon.

 

I would also like to know who to contact, as I am in the same boat. Dealer just doesn't seem to know or find out. I'd hate to be put off only to find out they really aren't getting one.

Your Vin is close to mine (08925). I PMed Deysha to find out my build date, and was told it is Mar-14-2011. I would guess yours would be around the same time or the week before. There's no ETA yet but I'm hoping for 3/30/11.

I emailed her after posting this and she told me a build date of Feb 28. But our VINs are close...I wonder if maybe they have been pushed back a week or so...

The VIN number has nothing to do with the build order for Mustangs.

 

Correct. It's also not called a VIN number. (that would be the vehicle identification number number) There's no need to say number twice. It's just the VIN.
