Daily Driver?
Daily Driver?
Happy Thanksgiving to all, Im thinking of making a major change in my transportation mode by trading in my 2010 F-150 and 2005 Mustang GT for a Boss. The Boss will be a daily driver for a while, the Central Florida Winters and not an issue. Would like to hear some feed back as Im on the fence about this?
Go for it, I did and had the same line of thinking regarding the winters. I bought the Boss, 10/27/11, with the intention of becoming a daily driver and am slowly making my way there. I am keeping my dd for now, 2001 4runner w/152k. Work is 3 miles from the house and I am just not comfortable driving it 6 miles round trip just to sit outside all day. For now I am driving the truck to work but the Boss everywhere else.

Yeah get a 5.0 for a daily driver the Boss looses value every mile you take. My 2 cents which aren't worth anything in this economy is that you buy a boss to ether race it and use its full potential or garage it and use its collectors potential. Otherwise it's not worth the investment.
The ONLY thing that I would make as a concession to it being a daily driver is having a set of wheels and tires that would give me enough treadwear (would keep the original wheels and tires stored separately). Other than that, the standard Boss, I believe, would be a lovely mode of transportation.
Boss would be a great DD,especially in Central FL.Here in NW Nevada I can't use the Boss as a DD ,due to the harsh Winter conditions and temps below 40 degrees.Of course traction is an issue with the stock tires.

My Boss is my daily driver (bought early September). We've had a few mornings with temps in the 30's and I didn't notice any problems with traction. We typically get down into the 20's or sometimes teens here so I'll report back if I plant it in a tree.

The Boss is a glorified 5.0. The reason to get it is for the upgraded engine components and the extra work they put into suspension tuning. Sure, the latter is something you *could* do yourself, but unless you really know what you're doing, you're as likely to make things worse as better.
As far as collector's potential is concerned, sure there's a small chance that 20 years from now someone would be willing to pay some money for it, but just about any other type of investment would outperform buying this car (IMO).
Buy the car to drive it, and drive it everyday. Advertising notwithstanding, it's a street car, not a race car.
If you want the electronic gadgets, buy a 2013, otherwise either model year should do.
I daily drive my Boss, and have absolutely no regrets.

I'll respectfully disagree with this opinion.

All kidding aside: IMO it's an awsome street machine and a good start for that race car. This is what makes the Boss special. It can be taken and built to what ever the owner decides. We should never look down upon any owners on there decision are and what they want to do with there Boss. For one.......I think its pretty cool to see all the different ways that the Boss can be presented / street / track / strip / show.

I would love to have a Boss 302 for a daily driver. However , it would be impractical to drive a Boss in the snow and on ice. In the summer we have to watch out for hail. If a person lives in a state that has mild weather, the Boss should make a fine daily driver. In Minnesota, I have seen drivers use their GTs during the winter and would be driving around with large chunks of salted ice hanging from the wheel wells. I always shake my head in disbelief when I see a daily driven Mustang in Minnesota.
